With Thrash Metal being oh so popular again, most of the old-timers are coming out of retirement to (try) show the kids how to really thrash. Usually it never works out, but this year has 3 very big returns to the thrash metal world: At War, Sacrifice and Exumer. I have high hopes for the At War and Sacrifice, as I have already heard some of it, but the Exumer not so much.

Bands that came/coming back:
At War
Exumer
Vendetta
Sacrifice
Artillery
Hirax
Onslaught
Heathen

all of those bands are planned to be recording/releasing an album within the next few months to a year.

Any other old bands back or coming back?

You forgot Heathen my good sir.. And Onslaught kinda made a comeback back in 07 didn't they?

Looking forward to the At War, Vendetta, and the new Heathen the most I guess. And maybe Sacrifice after I have gotten into them properly. They do sound rather awesome.

I did forget Heathen, I will fix that. I know Onslaught was 07 so was Vendetta. I wasn't basing my list off of this year alone.

Death Angel and although not necessarily a comeback but Testament's latest showed that old school thrash is making a comeback.

Death Angel's newest wasn't very good.. I found it really boring, and The Art of Dying was much better IMO. Testament's newest is OK.

I had them in my list, but I did some searching and news is very sparce. I heard there was a nasty injury that caused them to stop, but that happend like 5 years ago. So who really knows. I`m sure if it is possible to e-mail Gene we could get an answer. He`s only in like 15 bands, so getting ahold of him is not that hard.

I know but their last one showed that there is room for old school thrash.

Mekong Delta came back after like a decade in 2007; Lurking Fear was a seriously fucking good album and I prefer it to a lot of their older stuff. They are currently working on a follow-up to it.

Not their first 3, I supose.
The Music Of Erich Zann is in my (long) list of best albums of all times :)

If the new Heathen is anything like their 2005 demo this would be the best thrash album in the last 10 fucking years.

Agreed with Rio about Mekong Delta, Lurking Fear was an excellent album.

As a matter of fact, I'm not as familiar as I should be with their classic albums; I own Erich Zann and find myself putting Lurking Fear on far more often than that one. I think it's that acoustic guitar solo in Defenders of the Faith :omfg:
