Vision Divine... a MUST ! especially the three albums with Michele Luppi: Stream Of Consciousness, The perfect machine and the 25th hour... the new one is also very good, a change in sound, but you have to get reaccustomed with Fabio's vocals.

And I strongly recommend Heavenly - Virus (maybe you'll like this one) and Secret Sphere - Sweet Blood Theory

I second this. Anybody who has not heard these guys must check them out. Yes the Marriage albums are good, but Invictus is where I recommend you start. This band should be heard and enjoyed by all power metal fans.

I third this! Awesome band.

Are you into Rage, Thom? A lot of people overlook them, for some reason... started out speed, went more orchestral, now they play catchy Heavy Metal with big fat riffs.

Yes, Zad's been listening to Rage on the side. :dio:

I'm not a total n00b

Oh, and another thing. I'm not particularly fond of generic power metal vocals. That's pretty much what killed Heavenly for me. Just checked out Dark Moor's latest. Got it for a buck on eBay. The vocals sort of ruins it a little. But we'll see when it arrives.

Fine then. Stop ordering Dark Moor, and get more Rainbow!

I also want to say that the tracks that are on the myspace page I posted are not even close to the awesomeness that David Defies can create.

Come on, Invictus, Child Of Desolation, Wings Of Vengeance, A Symphony of Steele, those are pretty good choices. True, they have even better songs (Emalaith or Victory is Mine destroy any of those 4 easily), but those should be good enough for a first contact.

And yeah, VS is mandatory. metalxxx, nevermind Darkmoor, just get the last six VS albums. Listem to them incessantly. Then the first four. Get back in a month or two and report :D

By no means are they bad, I just wanted to reiterate that VS have even better material than what they posted on their myspace.

They're not but still a huge inspiration for PMers.

I think Cage is great, might want to try Brainstorm and Symphorce, got great vocals though certainly not symphonic in any way.. Might want to try Ian Parry's Consortium Project..

Well, I knew that. I was just wondering how Rainbow could be a good recommendation in this thread. :)

Because Rainbow Rising is better than any PM album out there. And there wouldn't be PM without Rianbow Rising. That's why. Do your homework boy.

Hey, slow down here. I know they are essential and that they had a huge impact on the Metal scene. I also think "Rising" is a great album from beginning to end. But if we start mentioning Rainbow, then we could easily mention Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio, Saxon, Accept, Scorpions, Alice Cooper, and so on... you get my point? I just thought Rainbow was a bit "off" in this thread. They are hardly Power Metal, at all. None of those are.

Again, no Rainbow means no PM. And I would consider Accept to be power metal. Not the faggy euro power metal that is popular today and a few years ago, but real power metal.
