As long as I have any say, I will not declare Burzum a classic. The production is GARBAGE, the music sucks and the whole thing is a front for the Aryan movement anyway.
Shame on you I say!! Shame on YOU!!!!!
That's oh so narrow-minded! I really can't beliebe you say that, first of all Metal Reviews is about the music so all that Varg did that isn't music-related shouldn't affect the opinion you have of his art; second, albums like Hvis Lyset Tar Oss by Burzum are like a chapter in the black Metal Bible; Black Metalers all around the world, old and new, have those albums as absolute classics there's no way it can't be considered as classic; third, Burzum's music is some of the most intense and unique music in the world (I mean there are thousands of bands that are still trying to rip-off Burzum's sound, but even after all the years there isn't a band in the world that can re-create the atmosphere and intensity on those albums); and fourth, production isn't THAT bad; i mean there are hundreds of albums with worse production (Hvis Lyset Tar Oss sounds quite good).
Bottom-line is: if you don't like Burzum it's OK with me, but that doesn't mean they ain't classics for other Metalheads (almost all Blackmetalheads for example); so don't use excuses like: "the whole thing is a front for the Aryan movement" to diss this killer albums from the classics list only because you don't like Burzum or what Varg did that isn't music related.
(Don't take any of this personal Jay, it's just my opinion, as your post is your's.)
Hail Burzum!!
Also I would like to add to the classics suggestion list the following albums:
Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger
Morbid Angel - Covenant
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Satyricon - Nemesis Divina
