A great classic. Children of the grave is one of the best songs of all BS catalog.

Another all-time great album.
This album was like a meteor headed straight for Earth when it came out... I remember my dad blasting this at 200 watts per channel when I was barely walking.
Into The Void, Children Of The Grave, Lord Of This World, After Forever... for 1971, this was as heavy as it got, and it still stands the test of time.
Again, well done!

Great album! I like this one as much as Paranoid and the first one when it comes to early Sabbath. After Forever should be a killing track!

One of the all time best albums ever. Nothing can compete with the awesomeness that is Master of Reality.

I think this is my favourite Black Sabbath album (with Ozzy), and i completely agree with Jeff about after forever being a killer track.

That song is pretty much the epitome of metal :dio:

Cleverly disguised Christian propaganda.

Disguised?
Iommi has never claimed to be anything but Christian. And wasn't Ozzy's cross big enough on early Black Sabbath's promo pics?

I think Butler was the only one who isn't completely Christian or something.

Exactly right... Master Of Reality wasn't "pretending" to be anything; it was a stark harbinger of the doom awaiting mankind if it doesn't change it's ways, and mankinds hypocrisy regarding religion, like much of Sabbaths material.

Just because they played metal, people assumed they were satanists or something... Black Sabbath are not only the godfathers of heavy metal but also christian rock as something that is not completely cheesy and pathetic.

Sabbath was a product of the times... Vietnam, the Cold War, the industrialization (de-humanizing) of society and the hypocrisy of "dropping bombs with the Pope's blessing"...
anybody that read the lyrics should have no doubt that Sabbath was delivering a message that was a direct indictment of mankind.
Nothing overtly "satanic", despite the obvious occult refernces penned by Geezer Butler.

Indeed.

A good example of how BS have never hidden their true values :

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of deaths construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs of the power
Hand of God has sturck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
All right now!

What Sabbath did was held a mirror up, exhorting "Look deeply."

Sabbath's lyrics are fantastic, last night in my mate's car I put on Iron Man on and he thought it was something to do with the story behind the kid's film 'til Iron Man reaped his revenge.

I always thought it was hilarious how they rhymed "masses" with "masses."

I always thought that was cool, it is two differant words after all, and things don't have to rhyme. If I remember rightly War Pigs had the 5th worst lyrics ever or something ebcause of that. Apparently.
