Abattoir - Game of Death

Greetings, DW, good to see you made it this evening.

Ha, I wouldn't miss it for the world.

NP: Razor - Cross Me Fool

I was just listening to that album last week...
No other decade can hold a candle to the 80's when it comes to metal.

That is the truth, but I've really been digging the 70s lately. Thinking about starting a thread so people can give me some more good 70's bands and albums to check out.

There was some good shit circa 1970 - 1979, definitely... what are you looking for?

That's a good question. I was listening to some Night Sun the other day, and I was like man I want guitar/riff oriented stuff. Some Deep Purpleish meets Sabbath type stuff. Doesn't have to be heavy like them, but something like them. I also really like jam stuff, with songs that are long and are awesome to hear live.

Stuff like Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, UFO, (early) Scorpions, Nazareth, Whitesnake, Black Oak Arkansas, Elf, Blue Cheer, Stooges, T-Rex, MC5, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Pat Travers, Aerosmith (up to Rocks)? Obviously Led Zeppelin.
The thing is about the 70s, there really wasn't a big "underground"... what you saw is what you got, for the most part , so most of the bands worth mentioning are probably already known to you. You already know Alice Cooper, Thin Lizzy, Queen, etc.

Unfortunately I know pretty much all of those bands, but the ones I haven't heard I will check out.

Like I said...
Perhaps Lucifer's Son can fill in a few of the missing pieces, he is pretty knowledgeable regarding that era; there are some punk bands worth checking out, as well. I know there are some that I have forgotten, but like they say: if you can remember the 70's, you weren't there...and I'm off to read (Helter Skelter on the menu, I am re-reading it. Absolutely fascinating story, and strange, because we lived in Coldwater Canyon, which is not all that far from the Tate residence, in the summer of 69, so, it's all the more interesting to me, personally.) and sleep; gotta get up at 6 in the a.m., so... good night.

Black Sabbath - Cornucopia

I think it should be mandatory today for everybody to listen to Sabbath and nothing but Sabbath.
