After Manowar's last year's live performance to break the world record for the longest heavy metal concert, Manowar are ready to make metal history again... so they say themselves:

"Manowar fans, another kickass first from the "Kings Of Metal"! Striving to please the best fans in the world, Manowar continues to make history with innovative ways for warriors from all corners of the globe to enjoy metal at its finest.

Manowar is currently recording a song from their new album in 15 (and counting...) different languages. Never before has this been attempted by any heavy metal band. Stay tuned for video clips of each version as they are recorded with an indepth look at Eric Adams' odyssey into the world of multi-lingual vocals.

This song in its entirety will debut, along with new tracks from the forthcoming album, at Magic Circle Festival III on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Loreley on the Rhine River in Germany."

...which he usually gets terrible ratings, that song got a 3 star rating, because it's okay, it was still the 80's and he didn't suck ass yet.

metalheads not enjoying pop = strictly an american phenomenon i don't participate in.

edit: I can't control what shows up on that directly, hence the text below it explaining anything that may suck.

15 languages? That's not going to be easy. I wonder what are the languages involved.

It's funny because when they did courage in french, it was BAAAAD. I have a good laugh every single time I listen to it.

Ils disent que tout est perdOOOOO
Qu'il n'y a plus d'espoir
Je ne veux pas êtrAA déçOOOO
Et ne plus y croire

Horrible, horrible french accent hahahah.
I'm sure every other language will probably be just as brutal. Not saying that I don't like manowar, Eric Adams just doesn't do accents very well, I guess!

Heart of Steel in German was also hilarious.

EEK hab ein HURZ aus STAAAAAAL

Nessun Dorma was ok though, it's not really intelligible what the lyrics are so it works.

Not enough work probably but I heard worse...
For example, Chris Cornell did a French version of Can't Change Me from his debut solo album, Euphoria Morning. I just couldn't understand most of what he was singing...
Anyway, I appreciate the effort.

Quote:
Manowar influenced the early Swedish Black Metal band Bathory during their transition from Black metal to their later Viking metal sound. Bathory's lead singer Quorthon stated in a 2002 interview: "In 1986-1988, Bathory had a drummer who was heavily influenced by Manowar. He didn't enjoy any other type of metal, but he was somehow sold on Manowar. It wasn't like we decided to copy what they were doing. However, the typical heavy Manowar beat seemed to perfectly suit my new ideas for lyrics at the time."
