Cazares, Bell, STROUD AND HOGLAN!!!

SYL + Fear Factory. Boner! The excitement prevents me from making this coherent. What forum do you even put groove metal news in?

Cazares is a little fat wanker and Divine Heresy were bollocks, but this has got me interested again. Not sure that this is Fear Factory in another form, though; apparently, a new Fear Factory album will emerge one day too, which is good news. Still, this'll be interesting...

A new fear factory album is good news? Transgression was horrifyingly bad.

This may be interesting, though.

It was better than you gave it credit for. Horrible production and bad tracklisting hid a couple of gems, a few good songs and one or two fillers. Overall nothing below 65 for me.

I can't possibly see it that way; it was awful. The songwriting was staler than Digimortal. In fact, Digimortal was the better album. The production was laughable, the covers were insultingly inept, and nearly all the songs were forgettable.

Interested as long as it doesn't suck really hard like Transgression, and suck kinda hard like Archetype, or suck extremely hard like Digimortal.

Basically, what I'm saying is that they need another Obsolete.

You didn't ask me, but I liked Archetype. Songs fell off in quality after... number 7. I liked the cover of School too. I'd give it a mid-70s.

It's not really a bad album, I just think that FF is capable of doing far better. I think that albums such as Demanufacture and Obsolete really show what this band is capable of, especially Obsolete. That album had a great concept and the whole album really reflected the atmosphere they were going for.

It just seems to have been a mess ever since, to me.

Maybe with Dino back on board things will shape up. I just don't like what they're doing these days.

Transgression was badly produced, and had weak songs to begin with. Digimortal was too much embedded in nu-metal.

Hell they should go back to the Soul of a New Machine style, that album kicked ass.

I think a bit of Tech-Death would go quite nicely with the Demanufacture-era sound. Here's hoping.

But they would still be incorporating Fear Factory into the techdeath business and not all tech death sounds like the aforementioned bands, of which Decrepit Birth and Odious Mortem are two stand-out ones. I still want to see them moves towards an SYL sound.

i agree there man even though I've only heard one Odious Mortem album. Obsolete is one of the albums I listened to in high school and even though i doubt they will record something on that level, I just hope it isnt straight up showboating useless time signature shit like Psyopus. Itll be interesting though either way to see what they do, I still wouldn't mind a couple of breakdowns though.
=p

Demanufacture is one of my all-time favorite groove-thrash records. And Obsolete is no slouch either.
