Well, it's better than the last two, for sure. But it's still pretty plain and boring for me and doesn't do nearly what the debut did for me. There's a lot of praise for this one, so I guess it's just me not having an ear for it. Oh well.

It took 4-5 full and attentive listens for that one to sink in (just like it did with Thunderstorm by the way), but then its an awesome album. You might want to try it more at another time... maybe it will surprise you.

>FrigidSymphony : As for me being biased, well, its my taste and my opinion... we cannot ALL like the same things to the same level, and I happen to think this is the only album so far this year worthy of the title, but again, its my personal opinion. I have no taste for brutal metal and when something I find to be pure inaudible noise get a 95 / 100 you don't see me saying this is crap, to each their own taste and preferences. To me Iron Fire delivered a pure jewel of power metal here and I clicked with it fully around the 4th listen, after 50 listens its DEFINITELY the a grand album, sure Thunderstorm is better, but my personal quote for Thunderstorm is 100 !!!

Just my 2 cents,
Chris

I'll have to check these guys out, seeing as you prefer them to the new Hammerfall! And BTW, nice to see you reviewing again!

I know it's your opinion, but even within opinions objective judging should be made.

Well I've always reviewed with my guts, people around here know that I think :). Then we can debate wherever I'm objective or not, to me its still a matter of point of vue, since I've told all I think about this album and how it makes me feel, and that's how I review, if some people don't like this way of reviewing, they can ignore my reviews, I won't mind one bit.

Sure, no complaints. Incidentally, where in Switzerland are you from?

Born in Geneva, now in Neuchatel (Les Ponts-de-Martel, a small village in the mountain, five minutes away from Brevine's Valley, often called the Siberia of Switzerland) for 4 years now, but will be back in Geneva or Vaud (as this Winter annihilated my will to stay up there :) ), hopefully before the year's end.

What about you ?

Born in Oxford, my Dad's form Lucerne, lived there for 5 years, am now living in Lugano and have been for the past 9 years, and I can't wait to leave :P

Why can't you wait to leave ? I've heard Lugano was a beautiful place. Will you be leaving Lugano for another place in Switzerland or you'd like to leave the country ?

Lugano IS beautiful, but there isn't jackshit to do, especially for musicians. I'll either end up in Zurich, Helsinki or Britain.

Better than the new Hammerfall ey? I've heard that No Sacrifice, No Victory is a return to form, and Any Means Necessary is pure power cheese awesomeness.

Although with your taste it would be a power/prog album that would get the best of the year award, it does seem a little early. Still, I'm intrigued enough to check this out.

I definitely will. I was actually thinking it might just be my mindset not being prone to it. Will test it further when I have a craving for power metal... which is fairly regularly. :)

I wouldn't say it's a return to form myself... they're still going the more mid-paced direction but it definitely rocks more than Threshold and Chapter V (had some good stuff but not enough for me). I've been spinning it quite a bit. Cheesy, yes. Awesome? That too. :dio:

I'm not so huge on Prog except a few bands like Dream Theater (older stuff), Symphony X or DGM... I like some prog but I'm definitely not checking a lot of release on that style. Power / True / Speed / Hard-Rock and AOR yes and some melodeath (InFlames, COB, Norther and a few others).

Remember that there is up to 15 albums of the year for each reviewer, so this is one of them, not the only one or the one in the first place of the list since I am yet to forsee the future :) (Always in movement the future is... or is it motion, mmmm maybe Jeff or another SW fan can correct me if I'm wrong in my Yoda quote ;) )

:) That's a good Yoda quote. I must admit, I am quite the Star Wars nerd.

Review was good, maybe a tad bias. I never thought Iron Fire were anything special, but i'll give it a listen anyway.

I found it hard to read the entire review...here's a piece of advice, there is a thing called paragraphs...and that huge chunk in the middle seriously needed them...

...otherwise, good job
