Sun Ra -- Calling Planet Earth

On YouTube. This is some good shit.

i've been listening to some Sun Ra lately. started with his earlier stuff because i heard it was less weird. it's a great combination of being catchy, but also very loose and strange sounding at times. i figure i'll just move along album to album and maybe that will be a good way to introduce myself to an appreciation of weird jazz.

I've just been listening to some Jazz. I've always found the genre kinda hard to get into and appreciate, but I'm finding more Jazz that I really like.

Excoriate - On Pestilent Winds

Supremely brutal, crusty and authentic German death/thrash that sounds a lot like Holy Moses did on Finished with the Dogs. Remarkably, it was released this year rather than in the 1980s. Really great.

NP Austere- to lay like old ashes

Pretty decent Australian band playing that post-rocky influenced epic BM that's quite trendy nowadays.

Fen-The Malediction Fields

Hm, I'm starting to suspect I overrated this in my review of it. The weakness of the clean vocals gets really annoying after a while.

Danzig - Lick the Blood Off My Hands.

With song titles like that, it makes even me, a giant fan, have trouble taking him seriously. But an awesome song nonetheless. :dio:
