guys you're forgetting an important part of rio's argument. it's possible to like Opeth or Cynic or The Mars Volta without being pretentious because those bands make music that is enjoyable to listen to. Isis make boring music that is not enjoyable to listen to; therefore, the only reason someone would pretend to enjoy them is because said person is pretentious.

BUT IT'S A SHIT ARGUMENT because it depends on the person finding that band boring. WHICH COULD APPLY TO any other band. Any argument that could apply to anything is a rubbish argument. I find Isis very enjoyable to listen to, so your argument fails as badly as your taste in music.

Oh for god's sake chillax Goat... :P

I said ISIS fans were pretentious as gently ridiculing response to your claim that anyone who didn't like them are "stupid people"; nothing more, nothing less. I don't actually believe all ISIS fans are pretentious.

I'm not pretentious for liking Opeth, but if I said that "anyone that doesn't like Opeth is stupid", then I would be, and I would fully expect and deserve gentle mocking from my peers.

Because I was one hundred percent serious when I said that. Yes.

Waiting for new Asphyx, Vader, Vomitory ( :dio: ), Glorior Belli, Carpathian Forest, rumours of new Destroyer 666? :omfg: :dio: , Dawn of Azazel, Ondskapt, Darkmoon Warrior and a few others.

I was amused by Trollfest's Villanden, and Vreid's new album is great. I hear new Hellsaw is shit though...too bad.

They have made it official by now:

on their website D666 wrote:
The band have now recorded and mixed the new album and are currently waiting on the artwork to be finalised

While I do not know anything about the artwork, I am pretty sure it will include a sticker with the disclaimer: WARNING! This record will pwn your face right the fuck off

The sticker being specifically designed for both this release and THE NEW FUNERAL MIST ALBUM WHICH WILL BE OUT IN 3 DAYS!!1!!11 :dio:

Hello again, Eisenfaust :)

That Funeral Mist album should be reviewed soon by me... probably a pretty glowing review, to boot.

And new D666; exciting news indeed.

I've heard it and it fuking rules. Not as good as Salvation, but that's unfair because that album was one of the best ever and it's been so long since its release. Still, awesome album. Really awesome.

I'd forgotten all about this band, then I just did a search and remembered Daniel gave Salvation 98 / 100 on this site... Pretty much the highest score I've ever seen here exc. classic.

The thread for that review is funny. But the score is well deserved in my opinion. That album is everything black metal should be.

on a different note I've heard the new Daath single. Classic example of how talent does not equal good music. It's a shame that Kevin Tally is wasting his awesomeness in this band.

Daath do some really cool stuff that makes me think they could make a cool album, but the really cool stuff is hidden in a big sea of really lame and boring stuff :(

Not sure if someone has said something about it, but this is out:

I haven't still listened to it, but with Jackie Perez and her voice and cello in for sure it must be a contender for 2009 awards.

new Celeste is out. yay. it's called Misanthrope(s); their album names - the other two are Pessimiste(s) and Nihiliste(s) - make me think they are very angry and unhappy people.

also i forgot Jackie Perez was involved with Giant Squid. now i want that too.

I think they're just as good.
The new one is a tad more "song-focused" and a bit lighter too, but the melodies are awesome!
