When I first listened to it start to finish, absolutely nothing stood out and it was quite dull, but having a random track playing here and there made it seem a lot better.

Yes he did but last year with Hate Eternal's album and now this he doesn't put effort to separate the instruments and make them dynamic. The music becomes just a wall.

the 'corpse will always be the 'corpse it seems. Unashamedly catchy, straight forward death metal with cool solos. By far my favorites songs are A Cauldron Of Hate, Evisceration Plague and Priests of Sodom while the rest range from serviceable to mediocre.

Agreed with everything said in the review and also the score.

I have tried over and over to listen to them and just find them to be silly and repitiious, they are the type of band that gives Death Metal a bad rep... Leave Death to bands like Despised Icon, Kataklsym and Into Eternity.. Lay this Corpse to rest.

On to CC.. I give Kill a 96 because it's a great combination of brutality and catchiness and i like the vocals pretty much. I like fast straight to the face music so Kill was easy to enjoy and it's still one of my favorite albums of all time.
Not that i don't like more complex music it's not that but when i look for a good kick in the head Cannibal Corpse is one of my choices.
As for this album it feels like the sound is "sleepy".. But it's technical, heavy and catchy enough to give it an 80

I think Cannibal Corpse's problem is not that they're meat and potatoes Death Metal but rather that they were always kind of mediocre at it.

Out of all the bands that came out in the grand old days of 1988-1992, Cannibal Corpse were the most boring and predictable of the lot.

They lacked the rawness of early Death, Obituary and Autopsy, the variation of Morbid Angel, the technicallity of Atheist or Pestillence, the groove of Bolt Thrower, the dementedness of Stockholm bands ala Dismember or Entombed or the truly disgusting perversion of Pungent Stench.

And they have never really changed from that. They have the odd interesting song but for the most part seem to be stuck in neutral being neither here nor there.

or they just have four good albums out of a long discography.
