Hmm... I thought falsetto and high-pitched voices were the same thing. Thanks for all the heads up! :D

Only with women.

:)

Okay, I wanted to elaborate a little. i have the uncanny ability to tell how a singer is getting the timbre of their voice and a lot of times I can emulate it fairly easily. I just naturally don't have a good falsetto voice. Whether it's from smoking, an irritable throat or some other reason, I don't know. I'm probably doing something really simple wrong because i've tackled the hard stuff and those aren't really issues. It's gotta be a fundamental flaw like where i'm pushing the air through my vocal chords, something i'm not quite sure how to do because I can't really hear it the way one hears themselves sing through the innear ear.

Anyway. That's something i've noticed. People compare vocalists that sing nothing alike.

The best example I can think of is Serenity and Sonata Arctica. The guy from Sernity never sings in falsetto, ever. Tony sings almost exactly the way Edu Falaschi sings. with one notable difference. Tony sings clean vocals through his middle and head voices. He sings harsh vocals through a falsetto. Edu does the samer thing except he doesn't sing harsh vocals often, but he tends to sing aggressive lyrics through a falsetto no matter how high or low pitched they sound.

If you listen closely you can almost feel how they are singing rather than hear it.

Here's the Jag Panzer myspace: http://www.myspace.com/JagPanzer
Seriously, you don't know these guys  ?

I don't think DeFeiss employs falsetto, so if I'm right try Virgin Steele.
And definitely Savatage.

Urban Breed has an excellent voice...and its not wimpy at all. So, the Tad Morose albums with him on vocals might be worth a listen.

I totally agree with you. Urban is awesome, he's a moody bitch though :P

Harry Conklin, Jag Panzer vocalist was in an 80's US Metal band called Titan Force. Two albums, both are awesome, especially the first one. And Savatage is definitely an excellent option.

There's also a demo floating around of him doing tracks from Thundersteel with Riot. Though I have never heard this demo and am inclined to believe that it is just some fantasic myth used to cull favor with classic metal afficionados like myself.

I might be flamed for even suggesting something this obvious but BLIND GUARDIAN!!!

Also, check out a band called Black Abyss. They have a very positive review on here about their album Land of Darkness. Very quality power metal/true metal.

Blind Guardian don't work for my tastes. The band seems to enjoy mixing the vocals so you can't hear the keys being sung. That's enough for me not to care about a bands music. It makes it fundamentally worthless.

Not sure if someone mentioned Omen. Their first three albums are mid ranged vocal mastery....with guitars, drums, bass, etc.

Hey there, if you are looking for great bands without falsetto vocals, check out the Danish band Pyramaze, the new one Immortal with Matt Barlow of Iced Earth.. some amazing vocals, also not truly metal but for just a classic rock/metal voice check out both Joe Lynn Turner and Oliver Hartmann.. they kick some serious ass vocally.. Rock on!!
