But the band would disband after a week cos' Dave plays too fast and no one else can catch up.

Since everyone else is ignoring the five-piece bit:

Vocals - Mike Patton
Vocals - Barney Greenway
Vocals - Jarboe
Vocals - Geddy Lee
Vocals - Joni Mitchell
Bass - Geddy Lee (again)
Bass - Bill Laswell
Bass - Les Claypool
Bass - Trevor Dunn
Guitar - Alex Lifeson
Guitar - Fredrik Thordendal
Guitar - King Buzzo
Guitar - Buckethead
Guitar - Mitch Harris
Sitar - Ravi Shankar
Keyboards - Mirai
Drums - Tomas Haake
Drums - Neil Peart
Drums - Dave Lombardo
Drums - Pete Sandoval

I kind of lost it at the drummers, but I think the rest would work very well together.

Will it be produced by Phil Spector?

This band would be nnnuuuuuuuuttttttttttssssssssssss.

Considered the idea of a better bassist in there like the dude from Protest the Hero or BtBAM but the thought of a Converge sound with Rody on vocals and Dailor on drums makes me jizz.
I'm so proud of you for that.

But I do have to agree with Legacy about Jacob Bannon. His vox are absolutely demonic. Suits the music perfectly.

But I would like to hear them with Rody...obviously. Singer's are really a matter of preference, anywas. Walker might be my favorite singer--his singing voice is awesome and he can scream and growl with the best of them, too. Best combination of harsh and clean vocals on one guy with maybe the only competition from Mikael Akerfeldt, but I just prefer Rody...

Jason Mendonca begs to differ. But yeah Bannon fits Converge fine, I just don't love it. I respect Converge but it is really hard for me to not compare them to DEP or Meshuggah.

i don't think they're that similar to Meshuggah or DEP who are aggressive but in a tight, controlled, and planned way, while Converge are aggressive in a loose, visceral and personal way.

also Ben Koller > Brann Dailor. i mean just listen to the second half of "Grim Heart Black Rose" BRANN HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING EVEN 1/5TH AS AWESOME AS THAT

I find it hard to compare them to anyone, really. They're so ugly, noisy, and violent, they just don't sound like anyone else. If they had anyone else besides Jacob Bannon screaming his throat out, it just wouldn't be right.

I do have to say that Ben Koller is one of the few drummers I like better than Brann. The drumming in Fault And Fracture and Last Light is simply staggering.

hard rock/progressive/heavy metal classic5-piece band:

Geddy Lee: Vocals, bass guitars, keyboards (Rush)
Tony Iommi: Rhythm guitars (Black Sabbath)
Ritchie Blackmore: Lead guitars (Deep Purple, Rainbow)
Peter Hammill: Vocals, keyboards, additional guitars (Van Der Graaf Generator)
Ginger Baker: Drums (Cream, etc.)

Now, that's a KILLER band! :dio:

I actually agree, the dude from Converge is the only guy I think could compare to Dailor in terms of style and awesomeness. However, I think that Dailor is a little more crazy overall and his style is instantly recognizable, unlike Koller. Thus I think he would be awesome in mah band--although Koller is really just as good.

Also, yeah, now that I think of it Converge wouldn't be Converge without Jacob Bannon. But they could be another really cool band with Rody Walker.

Funny how no-one's selected Flo after Cryptopsy's late-term abortion of a last album, even though presumably his madskills haven't vanished. I think he could compete with your Converge and Mastodon chappies - Once Was Not is more complex percussionistically than them.

Very true...I would actually say they're the top 3 drummers in metal...

I put Gene Hoglan on the top and Inferno from Behemoth is better than the drummers of Mastodon or Converge.

The mere fact that he put out The Unspoken King makes him not as awesome as Ben Koller and Brann Dailor. He's still a great drummer... but The Unspoken King is simply unforgivable.

Flo is always too loud on recordings and he sounds like poop

Earl of Void from Reverend Bizarre is best

Of course, Neil Peart is twice the age of everyone mentioned so far and he could outdrum them all.

Flo's is actually pretty cool, I think. But yeah, Chris Pennie's is pretty amazing a nd a lot better than Flo's. He' s a lot better than I realized...but the drum tracks that he "wrote" for the last Coheed album were pretty damn average.

yeah, i hope he'll be more noticeable on their next album or one of his other projects because i just really like his drumming. i'm still amazed that Dillinger Escape Plan managed to find someone who fits their music as well or maybe even better than Chris did.
