Bay area for me. Metallica, Testament, Heathen, Exodus, Slayer, etc. Can't beat that. :dio:

I went with ze Germans.

I just looked to see what had more plays on my iPod, german bands won. Hell I have a playlist called German Thrash. No playlists called American or North American Thrash.

Kreator > Slayer

Sodom > Metallica

Tankard > Death Angel

Destruction > Testament

Vendetta > Heathen (kill me now!)

Paradox < Exodus

Darkness = Vio-Lence

Holy Moses < Holy Terror

Anyway, you get the idea. I could go on forever, and yes some of those comparisons might not be fair, but whatever.

Kinda reminds me of the American democratic process. 'oh well I have some inkling of a connection with this choice so that's the one for me.'

Oh and none of ze Germins are better than Dark Angel. You didn't even mention Dark Angel or Megadeth. And Destruction better than Testament is laughable.

This and the other thread have bothered me by the lack of Dark Angel or Megadeth recognition. WTF?

I didn't put Megadeth or Dark Angel because they weren't in the other thread, just trying to keep some consistency around here.

I'd rather listen to Darkness Descends over most other old thrash albums, but everything after that I can't stand. The singer annoys the hell outta me. I haven't heard We Have Arrived Yet...

I put Destruction better than Testament because Testament is so overrated (like Metallica and Slayer) it's not even funny. I love Destruction both old and new. Now I like Testament, don't get me wrong, I just really like Destruction a lot more. Release From Agony pwns Practice What You Preach, same with pretty much every other Destrucion album.

I like D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. better than Formation of Damnation. I must be crazy.

German one for me. More consistent, and better at long term.

Yes

YEEEEEEEES

Yes as a full career. Not taking the best albums of each one.

DevotedWalnut wrote:
Destruction > Testament

Yes, and far better. Eternal devastation is better that all Testament discography (and I like Testament)

DevotedWalnut wrote:
Vendetta > Heathen (kill me now!)

No way, Heathen is far better.

DevotedWalnut wrote:
Paradox < Exodus

Of course.

DevotedWalnut wrote:
Darkness = Vio-Lence

I think Vio-Lence is better that Darkness.

A tie for me.

I don't consider Dark angel a Bay area, they're from L.A., and neither Dark Angel or Megadeth were in the poll. I can mention one german thrash band better than Vendetta, Darkness, Paradox and at the same level or better that Holy Moses or Tankard, for me at least: Mekong Delta. But they weren't in the poll, so they doesn't count.

Well, after that we can start a american thrash vs euro thrash poll, including Overkill, Dark Angel, but also Coroner & Sabbat. I'd still go with euro, but more tied for me :)
(if including canadan thrash groups in american thrash, with Exciter, Razor & Voivod, the winner is american thrash)

For the Canadian thrashers, don't forget: Annihlator, Dyoxen, Slaughter, Sacrifice, and Obliveon.

Mekong Delta isn't exactly thrash, more like progressive speed/thrash. But now I'm sorry I forgot them in my thread...But I still like Vendetta better.

Definitely Bay Area without a shadow of a doubt.

Not to say I don't really dig several of the German bands though. But Bay Area is just.... better.

Seems I am alone on this, or slightly alone.

So I must strike back, Bay Area is full of gays now. :P

 ZAD TEH ENEMY OV THRASH!

German, definately. Although I've actually heard more B.A., the German just strikes me as better, more vicious, etc. I would be controversial and say that the Americans have catchier riffs, however.

Ah hard choice for me, if this would had been German vs American thrash American would be the clear winner, i love me some Sodom, Destruction, Exumer and Kreator, but Overkill and Heathen pretty much owns every other thrash act on the face of the planet same thing with Sabbat and Coroner, in fact the American metal scene in general comes only second to the British scene IMO.

So yeah Bay Area.

If you are going to include all of Europe, why not South America? Why not Brazilian Thrash?

That pretty much sums it up for me.

Can we stop ignoring Exumer and Megadeth just because they weren't in the prior threads?
