i think if Devin keeps producing bands like Bleeding Through and Becoming the Archetype soon he'll have his own genre of Strapping Young Ladified metalcore bands called devycore ^_^

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. Maybe I'll start again.

Anyways, this is an enjoyable album. Declaration is a pretty awesome song. I'm finding that metalcore bands seem to be stepping up and filling the void left by some of the fallen melodic death metal bands (Soilwork). That being said the first half of the album is much better than the second half. "Death Anxiety" is a pretty crappy song, but it's also the first single. Somehow I think this is not a coincidence. The clean vocal parts just aren't very good. They got the same kinda thing going on with "Sister Charlatan," but I'd say it's a slightly better song.

Devy produced this? Agh now I have to go listen to another metalcore band and see if it's any good.

This is why we read reviews before dismissing them out of hand.

I read the review after I read Noodles' post. It didn't leave me with a solid feeling as to whether this is decent or just metalcore shit.

...and for cases such as this MySpace links are included in reviews. I think of everything, I do. Check them out, why not.

Don't tell me what do. I was checking them out before you got into this thread jerk. :P

Their general lack of whiny ass vocals is a plus. The SYL presence is duly noted and interesting (noodles might be onto something with the devycore especially if it comes out more in other stuff he produces). The breakdowns are tedious as always and it the vocals seem a little too macho and forced. Ultimately its not a bad album. Maybe it'll grow on me.

One of the better 'core bands around, certainly. For everyone's attention, you can hear the entire album on the MySpace atm. Much better than All That Shall Perish Remains!

The 300 sample is so tacky. The album as a whole needs less LoG and more SYL. I prefer his voice with the rasp comparable to Devy as to his growl or clean vocals. The black metal influence is actually really cool. The keyboards are quite impressive. That one solo is soooo awesome.

As a metalcore fan I find these guys to be really lame. I somewhat liked their first album that I can't even remember the name of but I remember the one before this just being trash.

Have you read the review? The Truth was a poor album, yes. This is much better.

No. I passed on the review and came straight to the forum just for the sake of posting an ignorant reply.
