It's on my wantlist for Christmas! :D

As are U.D.O. - "Mastercutor Alive DVD" and Firewind - "Live Premonition DVD" too...

Anyone seen the Axel Rudi Pell DVD "Live Over Europe"? Any good? It seemed as a lot of the songs were played more than once...

Seems to me like these guys like the "pop"ularity being bestowed upon them by the media...and I'm sure they like selling loads of albums, even at the expense of quality material.

Do you think that they are going the same route as Metallica did?

Pretty good album I must say...but can't agree with the review when it says "if you like Rocket ride, and like it even softer", meaning this album is softer than Rocket Ride, then you are sadly mistaken.

Tinnitus Sanctus is definately harder than Rocket Ride is, I can hear the power metal back in their sound, just not what they used to do in their first 4-5 albums.

And translating Tinnitus Sanctus from latin to english (going by an online translator), it means "To Ring Holy".

Make what you will of that...

But my review of this album will be available shorty at Metal CD Ratings...next week I think.

Maybe it's harder, but I like Rocket Ride a little bit more than Tinitus Sanctus. There are more outstanding songs on RR like "Sacrifice" or "Catch of the century" .

If I had to choose, I too would pick Rocket Ride over Tinnitus Sanctus, as there are a lot more awesome tracks

70/100 on a good day. "The Pride of Creation" is a load of fun, but Tobias could have written most of these songs in his sleep a few years ago. This growing fascination with hard rock will be the end of him.

Yeah, a VERY good day. Alas, I think they've lost it now. Even the 'joke' song's rubbish and the good moments seem like regurgitations of the last two albums. Sorry Chris.

What is with all the greats going in the pooper. Sonata, Strato, Edguy... Why fix something that isn't broken?

Ah who knows, but i can understand Edguy really, this is what they like to play now ans i cant fault them, at least theyre honest, but i'd be lying if i didnt want Tobi to start writting Power Metal again.

What I can't understand is, that they don't want to play speed metal, because (as far as I have understood) there were too many bands that sounded the same or so, but now Edguys songs are sounding the same too.

Why not 3-4 fast songs and rest a little bit slower? Avantasia is IMO now more varied than Edguy (Scarecrow vs Tinitus Sanctus).

I really don't think Edguy has gone to the pooper. Maybe Sonata Arctica and Strato, but I've enjoyed Edguy from Mandrake onwards more than anything pre-Mandrake....thats not to say there has been a load of great tracks from that era

They go from creating classics like Theater Of Salvation,Hellfire Club and Vain Glory Opera to stinkers like Rocket Ride. I'd say yeah they've gone to the pooper.

IMO "Rocket Ride" kicks ass, just like "Hellfire Club" or "Mandrake". They are all better than "Tinnitus Sanctus". "The Sacrecrow" was great and just like Chris wrote in his review, it also made me fear a bit that the new album would be in the same vein or less punchy. It's fine they wanna make Hard Rock. But they should do it with conviction, punch, bombast and less silly lyrics. It's fun on "Rocket Ride", but here it's just lame.

The band still sounds good, but they have strayed away from the direction that I liked. Tobias just doesn't write those epic choruses anymore and seems to be more reliant upon simple song structures and simple choruses.

Tobias can direct his band(s) any way he wants to. If he feels not like creating the music that was on Vain Glory Opera, then thats up to him and the rest of Edguy. Tinnitus Sanctus has a lot of Hellfire Club in it if you listen close enough.

To say Edguy has gone to the pooper just because you prefer their old stuff over their new stuff is your issue, not theirs.

You're right he has every right to do whatever he wants with his band and I have every right to complain because it's people like me that keep him in business without his fans he has nothing so we have every right to bitch and moan.

I don't think Tobias realizes that he's losing a lot of his fan base because of his change of direction. History has shown that bands that change their direction fail miserably. Look what happend in the 90's when bands tried to change their sound to fit the current trend they failed and as a result they disbanded.

And that's what is going to happen to Edguy if they continue to chug out garbage after garbage. I have no idea why Tobias is doing what he's doing. Who is he trying to cater to the mainstream? if that's the case he's going to fail big time because the mainstream doesn't cater to bands like him no matter what he sounds like.

So yes I have every right to complain it's our money that is being forked over to him he should realize that once you acquire a fan base you should always to whatever it takes to appease that fan base otherwise you fail JMHO.
