Going through some old 80s cds. Dis anyone else enjoy the Rock anthems/power ballads that Micheal Schenker and Robin Mcauley (grand prix) put out so many years ago. I thought these were some great and severely overlooked power ballads. Robin had a nice whiney voice and Schenkers leads and riffs were very memorable, at least for that era. It never seemed to get much praise. Kinda fell way below the radar. Was not to the level of what the scorps were doing, but highly enjoyable i thought. I particularly enjoyed the S/T album from start to finish!

the albums:
Perfect Timing- (1987)
Save yourself -(1989)
S/T-(1992)

I didn't go so far, but MSG with McAuley was very generic and not interesting.

MSG was great with Barden. The fist two MSG albums & Live at Budokan are incredible, and a must-have. Also Assault Attack with Bonnet is better than McAuley era.

PD: someone has listened to 2008 MSG with Barden "In the Midst of Beauty"? how it is?

I did and it's awful.
Garden has lost his voice, Schenker plays generic riffs and the all album is just painful to hear especially when you enjoyed the first two albums and the Budokan live like we did.

I agree, MSG had some truly great material and has is the case with most great 80's bands were totally overlooked. The song "Anytime" is nothing sort of hard rock heaven.

Man brings back great memories, MSG with McAuley was great, no he was not Barden but he brought a new sound to the band and really made some killer songs such as When I'm Gone and Anytime, simply classic metal ballads.
