Melechesh- ...As Jerusalem Burns

So fucking good BM in the vein of Immortal... I almost prefer this to the more recent "Middle Eastern blackened thrash" of more recent albums.

Great album, indeed. Underrated.

Gonna play the new Satyricon soon.

Yeah it's a Norwegian band.

They play a weird mish-mash of different styles of black metal, neofolk, black ambient-ish stuff, along with what i could only describe as some songs with black metal meets nu-metal riffs

Oh also it has vocals ranging from clean (male and female) to weird effect-enhanced-helium-talking-rasps to child like chanting to weird out of key singing like the guy from Urfaust or Simon Hestnaes would do to straight rasping.

I can't stop listening to it even though on paper it sounds so terrible haha.

Got that on now. It's either brilliant or it's rubbish, and I can't decide yet!

It almost sounds like Satyricon is trying to imitate Sarcofago or something.

I wouldn't go that far, but this is undeniably Black Metal again. The groovy N, D bits are incorporated much better, and the atmospherics feel less bolted-on. Kickass album.

The new Cradle Of Filth. Ok, I'll admit it, it's pretty damn good.
