I can't believe no one has anything to say about this album. One of the finest ever. This album was my introduction to Blind Guardian and I msut say, the chorus in Traveler in Time is a most welcomed sound for any burgeoning metal head. Plus the instrumental Weird Dreams and the song Lord of the Rings are quite possibly two of the greatest epic heavy metal songs ever written, despite the fact that lord of the rings is on the softer side, its definately epic. This album rules, probably BG's best.

I can't figure out why two points were substracted to give this album a 98...there isnt anything objecitonable on the entire album.

I hated Nightfall but I loved Imaginations. Would I like this one?

Most definitely. This doesn't have as many perfect songs as Imaginations, but it's still mind-blowing, better than 99% of the power metal out there. Mostly because of the BG-sound, something that Nightfall didn't have as much of.

I love Imaginations, but I think this is BG's best album. it is the perfect blend of thrashing intensity and BG's trademark "mead hall full of warriors singing" sound.

If I had to rank em, the albums for me would go in this order.

1.) Tales from the Twighlight World.
2.) Somewhere Far Beyond.
3.) Nightfall in Middle-Earth (some days this and Somewhere Far beyond are tied for second)
4.) Imaginations from the Other Side.
5.) Follow the Blind/ Lucifer's Heritage Demos.
6.) Battalions of Fear.
7.) A Night at the Opera.
8.) A Twist in the Myth. ( I dont even want to count this as a BG album because only one song on it sounds like a BG song to me)

Oh man, Traveler in Time is so awesome.

Edit: I think I might have instantly fallen in love with this album after the first two songs.

What it comes down to for me I think is this:

Traveler in Time VS Time what is Time
Lord of the Rings VS The Bard's Song
Lost in the Twilight Hall VS The Quest for Tanelorn
The Last Candle VS Somewhere Far Beyond

I think Somewhere Far Beyond wins in every case, except maybe a tie between Twilight and Tanelorn.

Nightfall I think has too many songs, some of them don't speak to me at all. But the ones that do... oh my god. The good stuff on NIME, like Nightfall and Mirror Mirror, for example ,are what in my opinion puts Blind Guardian on a completely different level than other bands that define power metal, like Helloween, Edguy, Gamma Ray and so on.

Tuff call, but this one is up there for me too. LOTR is the song that got me into BG... such a perfect song. I love how there are different versions of it too.

Anyway, I'm not sure how I'd rank BG albums anymore. I used to have it down, but now it's difficult b/c I like something out of all of them. I would say that A Twist in the Myth is probably my least favorite though.

Really? I found ATITM to be just great. A bit easier to get into and a bit more mainstream (or as mainstream as you can get playing this kind of music), but still it's quality Metal. Sure, it's a bit overproduced but I still think this is as good as everything else released by Blind Guardian.

A Night At The Opera is more overproduced than Twist is by far.
Twist has fantastic production. The best of any of their albums in that regard.

The album itself I enjoyed alot. I probably listen to it more than anything other than 'Nightfall'

Great album. Pretty much every song is a classic. I'll still take Imaginations over this, but this is a pretty close second.
