Destruction did it, Sodom did it, Tankard did it, Testament did it, Exodus is doing it, and i'm sure there are some that I am missing. Now some of these are not needed, but what albums do you guys think need/deserve to be re-done?

Albums/songs I think that need to be re-done:

Onslaught - Power from Hell
Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Sepultura - Morbid Visions/Bestial Devestation
Old Pantera (pre-CFH) i know not going to happen...

Anyway, i'm drawing blanks right now. But what else should be re-done?

The Guitar Hero version is much better and available with all illegal filesharing...

...or you buy the songs and playing so good, that you can rerecord it yourself. :D

Actually, most of the Coroner albums for me don't have a nice sound at all. At least, it doesn't remotely do justice to the music itself.

In the cases of many of the old thrash albums I listen to I often find the sound off-putting, and think that with a more powerful production they could have been better records. But actually, I think this is part of their charm in the end. I don't really see why anything should be rerecorded, unless you actually want to reinterpret the songs in a whole new way musically. But not just to make it sound better.

Suffocation - Pierced From Within
with the sound of the last one.

Nocturnus - The Key

Bolt Thrower - War Master
like those once loyal.

Mithras - World Behind The Veil

Autopsy - Severed Survival
and many Pestilence albums...
I don't know but i am not very fond of old school production. I think death metal fits better with a very good, crystal clear production.

Indeed. The production sucks big time and doesn't give the music what it deserves. Good call sir Dago !

I think the Mithras you mentioned sounds awesome, Dags. But then again I'm not much into that genre. What should it sound like?

Would Metallica be able to re-record Justice? nah.

Just the drums would be enough... So long as it's Gene Hoglan or Dave Lombardo doing it! :P

for some reason they were the first name to come to mind for me, too, even though i don't mind the recording quality on any of their albums except maybe the first.

+1
Plus, mediocre production in thrash metal is acceptable. Unlike other genres.

No way. I love the way Justice sounds.

Get a better stereo or quit bitching.

And I also find Atheist to have most of the time sub par production, even though I don't care because the music is out of this world.

Death - Scream Bloody Gore
(even though many like it that way)

Don't get me wrong, I think Justice is a good album (though the weaker of the first four) but Lars' drum sound is just horsecrap!

??? When something is crap on this album, it's the absence of bass. And the whole thing sounds a little bit dry and hollow. The drums are not better or worse than on the previous albums. Ok, Lars is not Lombardo or Portnoy, but I think there's nothing wrong on AJFA, what the drums concerns.
