Wow, I think Khan is definately the best part of Kamelot. He has a beautiful voice IMO. His voice is warm and full of passion. I agree on the range thing though. But his falsettos are damn awesome.

Totally with you on this one. By having one listen through "One Cold Winter's Night" DVD he simply steals the show. Heck, I'll go as far as to say EVERY singer in the world have a little something to learn from this talented man, as such an emotional and heart-felt performance is rarely to be heard or seen.

HE sure has evolved with the years though... His early years in Kamelot and his earlier band, Conception was not that good.

I thought it was a known fact that Roope is clearly the lesser of the COB guitarists. Not as good as alexander either.

I was watching one of the making of videos for blooddrunk where roope was asking alexi why didn't it sound as good when he played it. This sums up the whole situation right there. Even if they both played the same lick of the same song. Somehow, some way, alexi plays it better.

Dream Theater needs a new singer.

Roy Khan would suffice.

You don't understand the concept of dream theater. They want an original voice. They want to be the next rush and a heavy metal Yes rolled into one. for that you would need a polarizing singer who is incredible. LaBrie is such a man.

[I'll stick to my comment about other "classic" metal bands like Motley Crue, AC/DC, Accept

Have you really listened to Accept????
AC/DC is hard rock, Motley Crue is hard rock, but Accept is metal, and great heavy metal.

I don't have anything by them, but I've heard some of their songs. Don't mean to imply that they're the same as or similar to AC/DC or Motley crue, I just mean that type of metal in general.

Just wrong. Listen to songs like "Bound to fail" and you'll see that they are as metal as anyone.

Overrated:

TIMO KOTIPELTO - Annoying way of singing, little variation

TONY KAKKO - Whiney way of singing, and on stage he acts like a gay

TIM OWENS - Great range but I find little emotions, especially during his high-range (Except for the awesome high-pitched vocals in "Declaration Day")

:P

Underrated:

ROY KHAN - Should be regarded as one of the defining voices of Metal. Sure there aren't any Halford-screams, nor are there any Dickinson-falsettos, but his vocals are filled with emotions and delivered in a heartfelt and "soaring" performance. And live, he can sing with the best of them.

JØRN LANDE - Maybe he's not overrated, but he deserves more credit for everything he lends his voice on. He sounds like a perfect mix of David Coverdale and Ronnie James Dio, though with more power and range (I think :D )

DANIEL HEIMAN - ..... just listen to "Highlander (The One)"....

:dio:

As a singer he's not the best, but that man is one of the most underrated keyboardists in metal. They should kick out Henkka and get a new singer!

He's writing everything for SA as far as I know too... Definitely skilled. He sucks live though.

Daniel Heiman isn't very underrated now, is he?

I kind of agree. I only like a few Iron Maiden albums and I'm just getting into King Diamond/MF and enjoy it but his voice is sooo fucking goofy.

Lame.
Maiden and King own anything done by your pathetic pseudo-metal/math/whatever-core bands. And anything by any punk band.
I understand opinions and all that, but, goddammit, that is one fucking retarded post.

when i think "legendary metal vocalist", singers like Dio or Rob Halford, who are powerful enough to to propel the music into the realms of filling my soul with joy, come to mind... not silly and weak falsettos that make the music laughable. he sounds like an 8 year old going apeshit :\

actually Nomeansno's music is better than Maiden's in every conceivable way; this is objective scientific fact that has been proven by research and charts. Number of the Beast is pleasant to listen to a couple of times a year but great metal band? pshaw

I actually think that Kakko's live performance style is original and entertaining, just because he doesn't stick to the conventional heavy metal frontman stereotype.

Edited for grammatical errors caused by not thinking before writing.

Kakko is underrated if anything. The guy is amazing live and on record.

I'll second the Kotipelto comment though.
