Bullshit. I love Exodus, but this is a dumb fucking idea. Rob Dukes isn't even in the same league as Paul Bailoff. Beyond that it's not like BBB has shitty production, it sounds a lot better than a mountain of albums taht came out around that time.

It'll be interesting for a listen or two. Probably old stuff + new sound, the way Destruction did on Thrash Anthems, and Anthrax did on The Greater Of Two Evils. I hope that kinda thing doesn't become too common, however. Metallica rerecording Kill Em All would be pathetic...

Will be fun to listen to this, and compare the two.

I'm excited about this. I like new Exodus but I feel that they have horrible writing that makes their latest albums crap. Maybe working with the BbB material will showcase their skills.

I look at it this way, Destruction pretty much did their greatest hits and so did Tankard. Now it's Exodus's turn.

I honestly think this will be completely worthless. It's like Slayer going back and re-recording Show No Mercy. I'd just have to ask why. The original does what it intends to do perfectly, and it sounds good while doing it. It was also a moment in time that can't be recaptured, especially by people who are 20 years older. In a lot of instances it was the sheer youthful enthusiasm that carried albums like SNM, Bonded by Blood, Kill Em All, Feel the Fire, KIMB, etc. more than any technical prowess.

I understood the Destruction thing, as thier old albums do sound like complete crap, even with a good sound system, and they can be hard to find depending on where you are. I'm still trying to track down much of thier discography 10 years after first hearing the Anti-Christ.

Sodom did it too, but they gave you something special to accompany it.

The Greater of Two Evils was basically a fan vanity project, and in hindsight, it seemed John and Anthrax were trying to give the fans everything they wanted before he departed the band. Considering Music of Mass Destruction surfaced around the same time, I can't help but think this is true. And I reiterate. Rob is average at best. he's not a legend in his own right like John Bush is.

I don't think old Destruction sounds as bad as you think.

Also, I do agree with you about this being pretty dumb. But being who I am, I will probably buy it seeing as how I must own everything.

Yeah, been thinkin' about this one for a while.

Can't say I'll buy it, being that I own the original and I think it still sounds fine. That said, I'm a huge fan of Exodus as produced by Andy Sneap so it'll definitely be worth a listen.

The only good thing that can come out of this is if Exodus decide to play alot of their old songs on the oncoming tour.

Kill em All sounds good, but they should rerecord And Justice for All - at least, the instrumental Part. The vocals are good. :)

If I remember correctly, I've read an interview with Fenriz and he said, that they wanted that [ I think ] Under a Funeral Moon should sound like the old Destruction albums.

Whereas it didn't sound like a Andy Sneap production but more like an really old school record. In contrast I didn't like the sound of the last Destruction albums beforde Devolution, because they all sounded a little bit too cold.

I don't know what to make of this, really. Remakes in music are usually hit-or-miss. Some are actually quite decent (Anthrax - The Greater Of Two Evils), others are crap (Testament - First Strike Still Deadly). And seeing as to how Exodus' last album (The Atrocity Exhibition - Exhibit A) bored me, I hope Exodus can regain their momentum a little with this remake.

I'll just wait until it comes out, listen to it, and then decide for myself what I think.

Andy Sneap is overrated. He's like Tagtgren in that he makes vastly different bands sound exactly the same.

Maybe it's unnescesarry, but there is nothing we can do to prevent it anyway. I'll guess that the most of the users will check this out whether they like the idea or not.

The only thing that really pisses me off about this, is that the packaging doesn't make it clear that it's a re-recording. I mean, it has a new title, and new art.

Which means a whole lot of perfectly innocent young thrash fans, just learning the greatness of Exodus, will probably mistake it for a brand new album and buy it for that reason, and end up feeling ripped off.

Damn record company sneakiness.

Just noticed you said this...

But I reckon that's nonsense.

Can you honestly say you think Tempo of the Damned (exodus), United Abominations (megadeth), Enemy of God (kreator) and The Formation of Damnation (testament) sound like albums by the same band??

No way! Not even close.

They each sound VERY MUCH like albums by the unique bands that created them. If you want to argue that, I don't know what to say!

I think you misunderstand. What he's saying, I think, is that Sneap and Tagtgren employ production styles where the guitar sound, drums, etc have the same sound. Kind of a cookie cutter production, if you will. You can still tell the bands apart, but there are more similarities in certain areas than there should be. If that's what he's saying, I agree wholeheartedly. The mark of a great producer, to me, is that they adapt the production methods to fit the band they're producing, something neither Andy nor Peter do.
