But while DT are more focusing on the individual musicians, Metallica are making songs as a whole band. This are different approaches but not implicitly wrong.

Probably because the musicians in Metallica are individually piss-poor compared to Dream Theater.

But Lars>>>>>>Mike

St. Anger, from the snare to the awful lyrics and the lame 'riffs' was a turd, no question. If you can rock out to any of the tracks on the album, then you have problems.

And Load/Reload are still better than St. Anger; Devil's Dance, Ain't My Bitch, King Nothing and The Memory Remains are still way more listenable than anything from St. Anger.

The Beatles are also more listenable than Slayer, but that doesn't mean, that they are better.

True; but it just happens that they actually are better than Slayer.

Indeed. Without a shadow of a doubt.

You are joking of course. I'd rather skewer myself with the blunt end of a biro rather than here Strawberry Fields Forever/Hey Jude or any other Beatles song. They are overrated pop, nothing more.

Anyone who can give Unforgiven 3 more than a 4 has to listen to the original Unforgiven and compare.

Here is my Unforgiven rating list:

Unforgiven 9,5 (great song)
Unforgiven II 6,5 (nice try, but just a heavy country rock interpretation)
Unforgiven 7,5 (different style but grows and not that bad)

FAIL

Both Unforgiven II and III are unnecessary shit.

FAIL

Both are average/good songs, but they can't touch the original. There is more than good or bad. Only a sith thinks in extremes.

 Overrated?! Music would not exist as it does without The Beatles.

Yes. And music would not exist as it does without Rollings Stones too (neither without othe groups as Doors, Velvet Underground or Pink Floyd, for example).

Doesn't necessarily mean you have to like their music.

Exactly, personally I don't give a toss if they were one of Sabbath's influences, cause when I hear them its just commercial melodies and happy/gay singing. The only reason they became so popular is that those that came before them were even fucking worse. The Stones at least had some balls, especially for back then, with songs like Paint it Black and Satisfaction easily beating anything the Beatles put out. I mean fuck, Sympathy for the Devil was risky stuff to put out back then.

The beatles were only a example, and I like them actually. But The Rolling Stones are IMO a little bit overrated.

I may have better chosen the backstreet boys instead of the beatles.

You obviously don't know much about the Beatles and, yet, you talk and talk and talk some more...

Well for various reasons that I don't have the time or patience to get into, you're wrong. At least about the Beatles being great, if you don't personally like them, than that is fine. BUT, you must recognize, nay, bow down to the Beatles, because musically they are the most significant band in modern musical history. They have influenced more bands than I know exist. What you call happy/gay melodies, were some of the most well crafted and thoughtful pop songs ever written. Afterwards they wrote music that the Rolling Stones never could have come up with because they just simply werent imgainative, or talented enough. If you're going to base a band's quality off of how risky they were, then by that rationale, GG Allin is the best musician in history, and I think we all know how unreasonable that is.

So, you can think whatever you want about the Beatles, but at least give them the respect they deserve.

Indeed! I personally prefer the Stones, but you'd have to be blind to not see the vast amount of influence they took from The Beatles.

There are groups, or songwriters, or compositors, than change music. Liking them, or not, is not important. Mozart, Wagner, Charles Parker, Miles Davis, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Rollings Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, all them changed music as it was at that moment.
And I don't like some of them, but that's not important. All them, and many others, change the music.
(I prefer listening to Sabbat, or Slayer, or Sodom, than listening to The Beatles. But that's just a matter of taste, not of quality, and less of influence in music)

OK, OK I'll say no more on the matter, cause I'm not into music that is pre Black Sabbath, though I do like a few Led Zep songs.

Back on topic, I finally heard Death Magnetic, and I have to apologize, I take back everything negative I said about it, the album rules, I'd give it an 85-90 score. It's incredible how thrashy it is, I definitely prefer it to the Black album, it's like the logical continuation after AJFA. James' vocals have the bite they used to have in the 80s and the solos are fuckin awesome. Also to the dude who said Unforgiven III grows on you, I agree.

And that's what I'm saying - and nothing more or less. After now a little while it oscillate for me between 85 and 90.

BTW guys, I'm starting a petition to try and get all System Of A Down's albums with Ruben remixed & mastered. They owe it to me to do so as they've destroyed my speakers with the identical production method Metallica no doubt traveled back in time and taught them.

I'm pretty confident that I'll get as many if not more than the death magnetic petition, because System fans and non fans alike have been simmering on this outrage for years now.
