I don't believe you Chris, but I'll give this a listen anyway since I too love this kind of power metal, though not as much recently.

Srly, you should try being a little less enthusiastic when writing about the next majestic, epic, symphonic, melodic whatever power metal. In your review you "almost" stated this was the best power metal album ever released and a score of 97 shouldn't be given so easily. Even the new Amon Amarth doesn't deserve such high score and yet it's my album of the year.

I would normally agree, but when an album makes me "vibrate" that much, and for so many months now, I have no other choice :). I don't expect everyone to love it as much as me, but people with similar taste will probably love that album if they like the Spanish vocals. Its one of the best power metal album of this century (FOR ME) so far, so the quote is adequate if you take this into account.

Just my 2 cents
Chris

Personally I would put this directly into the classics section, its THAT good, but since classics are determined by more than just one person, well it then gets released as a weekly review.

I think in the future version of MR we'll implement a way to move albums to classics once they get the status, after all in all the albums (4600+) we reviewed, I'm sure more than a few deserve the classics, take the first two Avantasia albums for instance. So if there is possibility to implement that in the future, I think we will.

Sound like Blind Guardian crossed with Edguy - in Spanish! - to me. I like it, but I wish bands would put an entire song on their MySpace instead of bits of each.

I agree with Zad it does sound like a cross between BG and Edguy.

They sound very majestic but I would probably enjoy it much better if they were singing in English.

Chris, it would be nice if you could get your hands on their debut album, Domine. I've heard some songs from it and they were good, but nothing overtly spectacular. But if this new album is better, then I'll probably check it out.

Btw, as you don't seem to have any problems with spanish vocals, you should check out Opera Magna. I think they would be right up your alley.

Listen to "El Fuego de mi Venganza" and tell me that isn't one beast of a song!

I have listened to their debut and while there were some good songs, nothing was even remotely as awesome as the new album ! Its a huge evolution, both in sound and song-writing.

Thanks for the advice I'll check them out once I understand why I don't get automatically a player with the songs like I used to on myspace.

Thanks,
Chris

Ok, I just heard "No Lo Verán Caer" and "Dulce Veneno" on Youtube. Definitely great stuff, especially the former which is an awesome song! I'll try to get my hands on this one, although I guess it won't be easy to find it...

I seriously doubt it, but its funny I wanted it to be brief. When the site started the reviews were only a few lines in length, Danny was actually desperate when they started taking one screen or more, but they have more substance that way. Maybe we should have an Xpress Review section with reviews of only a few sentences, like we did when we first had the site, what do you guys think ? is it an idea worth developing (there could be doubles of course)

Dulce Veneno while a great song is one of my least favorite, its still an awesome song, it just can't compete with the likes of No Lo Veran Caer or Angeles Cona Una Sola... etc

This singer sounds exactly like the lead singer from Galneryus.

Haha, not complaining, it's a very good review. You're clearly very passionate about it...no homo.

Well I hate to ruin this party, but I have to disagree about this band being amazing. I'd love to love this band because they're Spanish, but I have two major problems with them. First, the music isnt terribly inspiring. All the musicians are extremely competent, and at times I am reminded a bit of Rata Blanca, but this is mostly with the solos and the way the guitarist looks. My second problem, and this one is the big one for me, is the vocalist. True, he is very talented and has good skill, but, having heard lots of popular music in Spain ( and this is just because a girl I dated there liked pop music) I have heard a million singers that sound exactly like this guy, and they all sing sappy rediculous Spanish love songs, and are mainstays in the dance clubs and Mtv channels. So, while I do admit he has a good voice, its not metal, and it does not fit in this type of music. If he were singing a traditional Spanish love song or something akin to that, then I would say he's the right man for the job, but unfortunately heavy metal is not about horse back riding in Andalucia with your beloved Isabel.
