I was talking about topics that the news media refuses to take up and discuss.

I didn't feel it was necessary to mention the whole Rev. Wright controversy since it was talked about on the news for a whole fucking month.

He spoke about against the Iraq War in 2002. Just because I wasn't in office to vote for it doesn't mean that I don't oppose it. And it'd be pretty shitty of him to vote against money for the troops after we are already in there. Giving a half ass effort to pull out will just get more soldiers killed than necessary so why do that?

It hasn't even been fifty years yet and racism is still really bad in the South like Mississippi. I've heard some horror stories when it comes to black people shoplifting and doing some petty crimes down there.

As for the PAC money, I know that all politicians even the "messiah" takes PAC money and gave it out to convert superdelegates. I don't care if Obama is 100% honest because I don't expect that from a politician; I just care that he shares a majority of the same views that I have and that hopefully he will move towards them once in office.

The Wright controversy was glossed over and that was it; if the races were reversed the media would have destroyed him, and you know it.
As for Mississipi; there are places in the U.S. that a white person will get killed just for being white, so what's your point? Don't believe me? Take a walk through the dark side of Detroit or Chicago or any major city with your white girlfriend, see how that turns out.

Because here there's a rule against racism and not one about sexism, for a start. Because racism is worse than sexism, for another. Because being a wife and a mother of five is not enough to earn respect, thirdly. And finally, just because I reveal my dislike of women doesn't give you grounds to reveal your... let's call it insensitivity.

Considering that it's already been challenged in a fair few states (South Dakota, for one, doing this by memory so forgive me if I'm wrong) I think that overturns in certain states could certainly happen. Maybe not in, say, California, granted.

That law's ridiculous, though. They can get around it by injecting the baby before extraction, which if the aim is to stop the killing of babies is very silly.

And I agree, late term abortions are sick and should be avoided as much as humanely possible (coud rant about birth control being more widely available, but whatever) abortion is not a nice topic, but the mother's rights come before the child's in my opinion. We have a 24-week limit here, am I right in thinking that there's no limit there as long as they don't dilate etc?

I was countering the idea that a candidate's patriotism should be any factor in his elegibility. And I'll remind you that I too am an American citizen.

If, and it's a big if, it were ever overturned in a state, there would be lefty uproar the likes of which we've never seen. The Supreme Court would likely overturn the states ruling.

Agreed, the law needs to be tweaked. You either make the decision to have the baby or not, and early. I think its bullshit that someone can decide that late in a pregnancy to opt against having their baby, so they kill it. Ridiculous. Personally, I don't support abortion except in cases of rape and incest, but I really don't want to get into that as you're correct that its a topic that generally turns ugly. My point was, I'm pro life, but that issue is so far down my list of priorities that I don't even consider it when picking a candidate (hence why I voted for Kerry in 2004). I think it's naive to choose a candidate solely by their stance on abortion, but of course that's only my opinion.

References to black people including terms like 'bongo' fall into the racism catagory for me. You'd be the first to freak out if a black person joined the forum and called you a 'honky'. I know that you have no idea of others' "sensitivites", but that doesn't mean you can throw around racist language under the cover of 'jokes'. Follow the rules, pleeese.

There are cases where the option needs to be there that late, but again, let the mother deal with the implications of that, it's her decision to live with, and the government shouldn't make it for her. Still, it's all shades of grey, there's no back and white on the issue...

Well, I agree with that mostly, though I'd rather not elect a guy who has no patriotism and hates this country, but said guy (or girl) would never make it out of the primaries. Now, couldn't you have made your valid point without going the trendy "America sucks" route?

America's never done anything to be proud about. And personally I think your opinions are a load of bullshit.

If he hates his country but is running for president, it's probably because he wants to change it, because he believes it can be a lot better (which in this case it most definetely can).

i've always thought abortion is extremely black and white. you're either killing a baby or you're not. i also don't understand how it got divided into a left/right issue because it doesn't have much to do with that

McCain has said good things about Pat Robertson (not quite the same as Pat being John's preacher) who's said way crazier shit than Wright did. and i don't know much about Wright but everything i've heard him say has been true, if very biased, so i don't think you could even conceivably reverse the races
