Great review.

To be honest, I didn't like this anywhere as much as Distant Tides the first few times around but I got used to it and now I seem to find Humanity Dethroned to be quite a suitable and excellent follow-up. Although I personally do find it to be a departure from the previous album, I really like the new direction. The harsh vocals are a great asset. It's pretty rare that a band puts more harsh vocals rather than less (like the trend seems to be lately).

Those that dismissed this band as "just another power metal band" should definitely give them a second chance. This is album slays and is much more aggressive, even thrashy at some points. :dio:

I'm listening to the band's myspace page right now and I like what I'm hearing. I'll definitely be picking this one up. Great review!

edit: I just realized that the lead singer is the same guy from persuader. Anybody who sounds like a pissed off Hansi Kürsch gets a big thumbs up from me :dio:!

You forgot to mention Savage Circus. :)

But yep, that's Jens Carlsson. I never knew he could put out vocals like he does on the new Dark Empire, though. Quite a change... I like it.

Picked up Distant Tides a while back when it was first reviewed here. I totally forgot that Humanity Dethroned was out, and I'll definitely be ordering it shortly.
