I just wanted to get the news out that The Berzerker's new album, The Reawakening, is being released independently by the band.

Since I have more albums on my computer than what I have bought, I feel obligated to buy this. Record labels are another embodiment of ugly capitalism which I dislike and my excuse as to why I download albums. I really want to see this album do well so that it encourages other artists to do the same.

Store
Myspace with one new track.
Video explaining why they are doing it:

Good for them. I've heard plenty of ugly stories about Earache, hopefully this will net them a bit more cash. Preordered it.

Naw I don't like Berzerker. Techno and grind/death shouldn't be mixed. But I do agree with you when it comes to downloading, although I buy as many albums as my wallet allows me to because A, I want a huge record collection and B, I want to support bands I like.

So I just got my copy in the mail.

The vocals are really different. There is a lot of distortion to Kenny's vocals.

The album is definitely experimental in a way and will take some listens to get used to. The songs have a lot more industrial influence than his other albums. I guess that is what happens when you don't have a label telling you what to do.

Yes, a quick listen has me agreeing. Interesting step for them, nice that they're not repeating themselves. Expect a review in a few weeks.

Please tell me they've stopped using that terrible bass drum sample. That is the one thing that puts me completely off them as a band.

You could always check out their live album; I doubt they use it when they have a physical human drummer.

It's just that the decay on it sounds fucking retarded when played that fast. They'd be better with a different sample.

I'll have a look at the live album though.

Overall, I don't think it is as good as some of their other albums but it is by no means a bad album. The sounds clips as always are cool.

I don't how to describe it but the vocals at the very beginning of 'Wisdom and Corruption' almost sound operatic. There is just so much distortion to the vocals throughout the album it bothers me.

The remixes didn't interest me enough to listen to them a second time. Eventually I'll get around to them.

Disassembly Line is such a killer song.
