Seattle metallers NEVERMORE will release their long-awaited new DVD, "The Year Of The Voyager", in Europe on October 20, 2008 via Century Media. The set covers the "This Godless Endeavor" touring cycle, starting with amazing live footage from the U.S. Gigantour 2005, the Metal Mania festival 2006 in Poland, the Wacken Open Air festival in 2006 in Germany and the main DVD show recorded at the Zeche in Bochum, Germany on October 11, 2006. Bonus material includes two songs from Century Media USA 10th Anniversary Party 2001, all promo videos and an interview with singer Warrel Dane which was recorded at the Roax Film Studios in Berlin in the spring of 2008.

"The Year Of The Voyager" will be released as a limited-edition 2DVD+2CD, standard 2DVD, standard 2CD and limited 3LP (the latter two containing the audio from the main show in Bochum only).

As the main show of this DVD was filmed in the German town Bochum, a world premiere of the DVD will be held at the Metropolis Cinema in Bochum on September 15, 2008, which will include a personal introduction and exclusive signing session with NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane and guitarist Jeff Loomis. This sounds like a cool package. There's no doubt that I'll be picking this up when it's released. Thanks for the info.

Ditto. I hope Warrel's not all drunk and that, as amusing as that would be for ten minutes...

You can't lump them into one particular niche because they play different styles like prog, death, thrash and power metal.

I don't recall Nevermore ever being death metal, except may be with some parts of their Sound Of Silence cover.

Anyway, I never buy live DVD's (I just find them to be a waste of money, usually), so I'll probably be skipping this. What I want is a new studio album! :dio:

They have some elements of death metal especially from This Godless Endeavor it's not a lot but there are some but they do have stronger elements of prog and thrash in their albums mostly.

But they are all over the place that is why they are hard to label but that is why they are so unique.

Agreed though they need some new material it's been 3 years since their last album it's time for a new album but we probably won't see that until maybe mid 2009 depending if they get to the studio soon.

I tend to think of them as proggy power metal with a touch of doom metal in their morbid (almost masochistic) lyrics.

By the way, does anybody else there think their Sound Of Silence cover has one of the most awesome intros of any metal song ever? I mean both the gothic-sounding melody opening it and the faster death metal-ish part that comes after (before the main riff comes in).

I've tried recommending this band to my friends, but they're all like "The music is cool, but the singer sounds like shit."

They're fucking crazy.

His voice is indeed acquired taste it fits Nevermore's style of dramtic and unique brand of metal.

EOF as a joke you should play Sanctuary's Battle Angel for your friends and don't tell them that it's Dane's voice for a bit then tell them it's the same guy that sings with Nevermore I bet they would be shocked :)
