here's how it will work: Post your top 10 death metal albums, either ordered or unordered, then I will use a super special pointing system to rank them in a week or so :D

UPDATE:
Results so far:
Cryptopsy - None So Vile 6
Death - Symbolic 5
Behemoth - Demigod 4
Carcass - Heartwork 4
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines 4
Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh 3
Death - Human 3
Demilich - Nespithe 3
Dismember - Massive Killing Capacity 3
Arsis - A Celebration of Guilt 2
At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul 2
Atheist - Elements 2
Cannibal Corpse - Kill 2
Cannibal Corpse - Tomb Of The Mutilated 2
Death - Individual Thought Patterns 2
Death - Scream Bloody Gore 2
Edge of Sanity - Crimson 2
Entombed - Left Hand Path 2
Gojira - From Mars To Sirius 2
Martyr - Warp Zone 2
Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness 2
Necrophagist - Epitaph 2
Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction 2
Nile - Amongst The Catacombs of Nephran-Ka 2
Obituary - Cause Of Death 2
Odious Mortem - Cryptic Implosion 2
Sinners Bleed - From Womb To Tomb 2
Vader - Litany 2

And it still lacks Napalm Death

That's cause Napalm Death are grindcore, otherwise Scum should definitely be there.

Come on guys! Altars Of Madness of course! It has stood the test of time and after almost 20 years it still reigns supreme!

Edit: Maybe I should name drop a few other ones as well:
Cattle Decapitation - Karma. Bloody. Karma.
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Devourment - Butcher The Weak
Death - Symbolic
Hypocrisy - Virus
Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds (instant classic)
Something by Dismember to, but I can't choose one...

If I got only one choice it would be Altars Of Madness no doubt

AOM is fucking killer, right now I can't think of an album with sicker leads than that one.

You prefer Clayman over Whoracle or Jester Race? As well as preferring Wages of Sin over the Johan Liiva stuff? Otherwise, damn good list.

I'm not the only one who thinks Arch Enemy with Gossow is better then.

Liiva is way better than Gossow. She sounds like a rat (Leader of the rats...) Nichol from Light this City is better.

Don't get me wrong I like Whoracle and The Jester Race as well but I find Clayman to be heavier and more memorable as a whole. When I want to listen to In Flames it's the album I keep returning to most of the time.

As for the Johan Liiva stuff I never could really get into it, just a matter of taste I guess.

Since Burning Bridges is their best album, it makes Liiva seem better?

I'm not an Arch Enemy fan at all, but I just can't stand Gossows voice.

The first thing of theirs I heard was Doomsday Machine, which I loved. Then I heard the rest of the Gossow albums and I liked them all except for Anthems which was pretty weak. But then when I heard Burning Bridges, it totally shat on all the Gossow stuff and now it's definitely my favourite AE album.

Also Liiva's voice has something unique to it which is instantly recognizable.

Looking at my original list I put Behemoth's Thelema rather than Zos Kia Cultus. Zos Kia Cultus is Inferno's best effort and Thelema wasn't that great. Bad mistake.

^^^Elements is fucking awesome. Jazz fusion is cool.

I agree with Dead machine, Unquestionable Presence is Atheist best effort and deserves a place on the list.

Agreed on a few like Alters of Madness, Cause of Death, LHP, Litany, and Scream Bloody Gore...but putting bands like Arsis on there...come on people! :P

Anyways, including the ones above I'd add Possessed - Seven Churches (I can't believe this one isn't on there yet...pure blasphemy!), Obituary - Slowly We Rot, Dismember - Indecent & Obscene, Bolt Thrower - Realm of Chaos, Immolation - Dawn of Possession, Autopsy - Severed Survival

+ AoM, CoD, LHP, Litany, SBG
