I assume you mean the Europe song? Which is a stupid piece of pop glam, and is one of the main reasons for those who wish the synthesizer was never invented.

Haven't heard the album, but the song is fucking awesome.

Then again, it doesn't have blastbeats and br00tal vocals like Scum.

I guess it must've been great when it was released. But after having heard the song like a million times, it sucks ass.

I meant the album. I really love the song (which by the way is a huge ripoff of a Asia song called "only time will tell")

Europe is a very weird kind of group because they are a real heavy metal band, but they decided to use Journey's producer who subsequently mixed their album as an AOR band rather than a metal album, which is why the guitarist quit after its release. I think the whole band felt kind of dicked over by CBS for really marginilizing their effort and turning the album into a mainstream kind of Bon Jovi wannabe album.

Nevertheless, the songs are great and I think if the bands vision of the album were to ever see the light of day it would make those songs that much better.

Just go out and rent the movie "Hot Rod" and if you like what you hear then check out the album.

Death Magnetic as an album name does sound quite good and interesting. And if you notice on their website, they have gone back to their 80's Metallica logo instead of the "Loads" logo.

This all means nothing however until we hear what they have produced for the new album.

I'm still interested in what they have to offer and i'll always be a fan of Metallica...but i am allowed to think that St. Wanker ...err sorry, Anger was all but a bad dream, lol.

Whether you want to admit it or not, everyone is anticipating this new album...come on, its Metallica...the band which for the majority, got almost all of us into metal at one point or another...

Saw an interview with Kirk ok MTV last night (don't ask). Apparently they're also going back to their 80s guitar tuning. And some of the new songs have like 3 and 4 guitar solos. 3 or 4!!!

I'm getting the idea this new album will mix the pretty good with the pretty bad, which would be enough really.

Actually, I liked the Eb tuning on Load and ReLoad. That's just me, though, since I always thought Eb tuning had a cooler sound than E tuning.

The new album cover...

Image

...as redesigned by me in 20 seconds after looking at the shit they're planning on using. Not that they had a good album cover since Justice, and even that one was kind of weak, but still—this new one is just dumb. And they probably paid some asshole $10,000 for it!

Yep, yours is better. You should send it on to them and then prepare to be sued for tampering with copyrighted material. :D

Maybe it's not great but it's symbolic for the title and it makes sense. ;) (like the first 4 album covers which weren't classics but they fitted to the music. Kill em All a Hammer and Blood, Ride the Lightning electric chair and Lightnings, Master of Puppets a cemetery with strings to the graves, and justice for all the justitia where everybody pulls on with ropes. And now Death Magnetic a grave with magnetic field...

Burn! :P

Seriously though, can you imagine all the nerds going ah yes, those are magnetic lines of flux and feeling ever so smug with themselves that they 'get it' and lesser mortals don't?

It's true that they haven't had a descent cover since AJFA, this isn't as bad as the Load/Reload shit. And St. Anger. And the black album.....

I knew that's what those lines were when I first saw the cover, and I still thought it was lame. Being that "Death Magnetic" is a very stoner-ish title, this album should've had a more stoner-ish cover. Like something Monster Magnet would do.

I would have to say no, I have no faith in James vocals. It just won't be metallica to me perhaps that is just a personal bias. None the less, I will be checking out the new album.
