I'm getting annoyed by threads like these... I think it's the best once a year to have "my this years favorite albums" and that's it.

I find these threads a perfectly healthy idea. It gives some of us tips and reminders of releases we might have missed or accidentally forgotten. Right now I'm too lazy to actually go through all my CDs and downloads and think which ones I like but I might do it later.

Now I need to go check numbers 3 & 8 !

I don't think I have 10 picks, I haven't heard very many albums yet.

The Mars Volta - Bedlam in Goliath
Pyramaze - Immortal
Warrel Dane - Praises to the War Machine

That's it, I think.

Number 1: The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath

The rest, in no particular order:

Warbringer - "War Without End"
Testament - "The Formation of Damnation"
Bonded By Blood - "Feed The Beast"
Gama Bomb - "Citizen Brain"
Hatchet - "Awaiting Evil"
Merciless Death - "Realm of Terror"
Whitesnake - "Good to be Bad"

Highly anticipated (ones that will probably round out the list):

Metallica - "Death Magnetic"
Toxic Holocaust - "An Overdose of Death"
Exodus - "The Atrocity Exhibition - Exhibit B"

WHAT A FUCKING GREAT YEAR FOR THRAASHHH!!!!!

All of those are solid, face ripping thrash except for mars volta and whitesnake. 2008 - year of thrash!

1. Opeth - Watershed
2. Warrel Dane - Praises to the War Machine
3. Moonspell - Night Eternal
4. Testament - Formation of Damnation

Not out yet, but will be number one for me.

Tankard - Thirst

But for what's out my list goes in no particular order:

Testament - The Formation of Damnation
Bonded By Blood - Feed the Beast
Merciless Death - Realm of Terror
Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds
Origin - Antithesis
Judas Priest - Nostradamus
Exciter - Thrash Speed Burn
Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflikted (srsly)

only 8 albums so far. But still have the resy of the year to get more.

Oh, yeah, shit. I totally forgot CC. Count that into my year-so-far list for sure.

DevotedWalnut, have you heard gama bomb's new album citizen brain? It just came out on the 24th of last month, crazy that it came out on the same day as "Feed the beast" coz they're both contenders for thrasher of the year if you ask me. Seriously good shit.

Yeah I have heard the Gama Bomb album. It is good, but I just don't think it compares to Bonded By Blood. While making this list I was seriously thinking about adding them, but compared to Merciless Death, Bonded By Blood, and Exciter there is no comparison.

I have never heard of that Hatchet band, any good?

And have you heard the new Exciter album? Check that shit out, Massacre Mountain is an awesome song. One of the best comeback albums I have ever heard.

Haven't heard the new exciter....haven't heard much exciter at all, to be honest. I'll definitely check that out.

Hatchet is good, that one came out a few months back. It's a little slower overall, though it does get very fast in places. There's melodic solo playing, overall I'd say they're going for a ride the lightning era metallica kinda thing. Obviously it's not as good as that, but they make an admirable attempt at the style.

Check it out:

Hit up the track "awaiting evil". It's pretty slick shit.

Make sure to listen all the way through, the solo gets awesome as shit. And the bass during the solo is also excellent.
