So I decided to put together a list of my 10 favourite bands (with 10 honourable mentions too). I was REALLY surprised at my own results! When it came down to putting one band over another and giving them a definite number on the top ten list....

I realised there's almost no metal on my list!! Weird...but thats the way it goes I guess. I still love metal, just not as much as this stuff:

1. Pink Floyd
2. The Mars Volta
3. Deep Purple
4. Metallica
5. Lynyrd Skynyrd
6. Yes
7. Marilyn Manson
8. The Stooges
9. Cake
10. Guns N Roses

Honourable Mentions (no particular order):

Led Zeppelin
Kreator
Cat Stevens
Anthrax (belladonna era)
Thin Lizzy
Jethro Tull
Rainbow
Black Sabbath
Megadeth
The Doors

How about all you guys? Is your 10 fav bands all metal? Or barely metal at all, like me?

It was the band that first got me obsessed with music when I was 11.

I have a very special place in my heart for them.

So lay off.

:)

Besides I can honestly say I like all their full-lengths from beginning to end. Which is a rare thing for any band, so they deserve their place on my list and I'm not ashamed!!

Nomeansno, Neurosis, The Mars Volta, Converge, Devin Townsend/Strapping Young Lad, The Lord Weird Slough Feg/Hammers of Misfortune, Colour Haze, King Crimson, Tool, and Jonas Hellborg all have big and consistently amazing discographies. not really in order but Nomeansno, The Mars Volta, and Neurosis are definitely my top 3.

As much of a cliche it is, I tend to have favorite albums rather than favorite bands. I suppose The Mars Volta are a cut above everyone else, mind, simply because I'm still head-over-heels in love with them after listening to them every day for 5 months.

i've noticed me leaning more towards albums recently too. it's mostly because if a band only has one great album, i'll listen to that one album way more than the albums of a band that has like 5 great albums.
