A few days ago, I listened to this album for the first time in quite a while. Honestly, I think it's rather underrated. I like the "Metallica Meets Judas Priest Meets Dream Theater" sound (Lights Out, in particular, almost sounds like a lost JP song). And the album has this interesting "Ancient Mayan/Egyption" sound about it. Not to mention the fact that Scraggy's Tomb kind of reminds me of Scooby Doo - Now what album with such a trait WOULDN'T be deserving of my attention?

Best songs include All That I Bleed, the title track (which I heard was actually a bit of a radio hit back in 1993), the aforementioned Lights Out and Scraggy's Tomb, and He Carves His Stone.

Hit for me... I've never really like Jon Oliva's voice so, for me, it's as good as it gets with Savatage. :)

Hit. Imo the only Savatage's miss is Fight for the rock.

Hit. Prefer Oliva of course, but the Zak era was decent and this is probably the best album from that era.

I would pick Dead Winter Dead as the best of the Zak era stuff.

This poll is useless. I can't imagine anyone voting miss.

It's really close for me, almost tied probably. I find I listen to EoT more though, so it gets the nod.
