There is a difference between a classic and a milestone. Seven Churches is a fucking milestone for metal.

How can people diss (haha, ghetto) Ride the Lightning? It's fucking awesome! I think I realised how fucking good it was when Creeping Death pwned me with the DIE! DIE! DIE! bit. A few shit bits indeed but overall a cracking album imo.

Miss and Seven Churches in the same sentence = oxymoron.

Beyond the Gates is good to, it just didnt grab me by the balls like Seven Churches did when I heard it for the first time.

Oh, RtL rocks. IMO its Metallicas best. Or tied for their best.

The fact that something's a classic doesn't necessarily mean you have to like it. I don't really like Ride The Lightning much, even though it's considered a classic.

As for Seven Churches, I've never really listened to it before. So I can't comment.

Funny you mention RTL, I was talking to Mintrude about it the other day. I started listening to it to do a Classic, but realised halfway through how completely and utterly boring it was.

Well, the first side is awesome, but it goes downhill quite radpidly from there.

Actually, the title track was the album's worst song IMO. That solo (energetic though it might be) never fails to grate on my nerves. I like For Whom The Bell Tolls, Creeping Death, Fight Fire With Fire, and Fade To Black. The rest of the songs I could do without (although Trapped Under Ice has a cool riff in the middle). Not that there's anything technically wrong with those songs. They just don't do anything for me personally.

Creeping Death never did anything for me. I'd take For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black or the underrated Trapped Under Ice over that track anyday. As for Seven Churches, I haven't listened to it yet.

Haha, Creeping Death is one I didn't originally like but I love it now. Anybody else think that the verse riff for Fight Fire With Fire is fucking brutal? It's generally a really heavy song for Metallica anyway.

I just lsitened to The Four Horsemen and even though I like Megadeth more I do think that the extra riffs and sections make it better than Mechanix.

I genuinely never thought I'd say that. Oh shit.

Yes. Hence the fact that it's possibly my favorite song on the album along with For Whom The Bell Tolls.

By the way, have any of you ever heard the original No Life 'Til Leather version of The Mechanix? If any of you are interested, PM me and I'll send you an MP3. It's your chance to hear James Hetfield's desperate attempt at sounding like Diamond Head's vocalist.

RtL is my favourite Metallica album. The title track is my fav song on that album.

And Justice is the only Metallica album I've given any real listening time because it didn't bore me to tears with thrash metal stupidity.

Yeah, the other albums tend to appeal to people who place some value in their dick. Perhaps the long songs on Justice comehow compensate something for you.

lol it's funny, because according to Wikipedia:

Quote:
Hammett noted the length of the songs being problematic for fans and the band. "Touring behind it, we realized that the general consensus was that songs were too fucking long," he said. "One day after we played 'Justice' and got off the stage one of us said, 'we're never fucking playing that song again.'"

Metallica can't even play their own songs. srsly. The song pwned the band. That's how awesome it is.

I haven't listened to Justice for like 3 1/2 years.

Metallica have always been boring to me.

Justice is a boring album... If it's the only album you really tried listening, that was a terrible mistake...
