Anyone going to get this? After X was a major disappointment I wonder if these guys still have what it takes.

Ewwwwwww. What a horrible title. I don't really have any use for this band post Steve Clarke, and if they use the same songwriters they did from X, well, it won't turn out well. I remember hearing some good guitar licks sprinkled here and there throughout X, but the rest of it was so bad it just wasn't worth it.

They took so long coming out with a new album... There must be some good in it!
Anyway, awful name and ugly artwork...

Image

They say it's inspired by The Beatles' Sgt Pepper, I sure hope the music's as good too...

That cover looks exactly like a Rolling Stones magazine cover from a year ago.

They played seven full songs on a radio show last, and four snippets of the other tracks. I think the album sounds excellent! It's nothing like X. In fact, it blows X away. It's got a serious 70s glam vibe on a lot of songs. I think doing all those cover songs for Yeah! got them into a different frame of mind. They're not channeling old school Def Leppard, but instead their influences from when they were younger.

Check these stream rips out:

BAD ACTRESS
C'MON C'MON
GO

There are some experimental tracks—like "Cruise Control" and "Gotta Let It Go"—that could have easily been on later albums, but even most of those tunes have something retro about them. "Go" is probably the most experimental and modern-sounding, but it's a great song. Nice and heavy.

After X—which I don't really like, except for two songs—I wasn't much looking forward to this album. But I've changed my mind. I can't wait for it now. For me, this will probably be their best since Hysteria, if my opinion stands after getting the album.

Time will tell I was disappointed with Slang,Euphoria and X so I'll have to hear how this sounds before I get this.

I loved Slang and most of Euphoria, which I thought was largely a return to form. Songs like Paper Sun, Day After Day, Kings of Oblivion, and I Am Your Child, if a bit more raw in the production area, would not have sounded out of place on Pyromania or High N Dry.

Did you listen to those samples?

Yes they got the classic Leps down pat so just maybe they will pull this one off but still skeptical 3 songs don't make a good album it's going to be a wait and see until this comes out.

Indeed, Euphoria had exactly 3 good songs on it. I'll check out those samples though.

I am among the few who liked Slang. I liked Hysteria too. I didn't listen to Euphoria and X. Yeah ! was good. It would be interesting to see how this album would sound (yet to check the samples). Yeah, stupid cover and equally stupid name for an album.

Definitely their best since Hysteria. I especially love the ballad, Love. The Queen influences are great!

On par with Slang which means it's a really good album but still not a great one.

This album is extremely enjoyable. Very easy to listen too, and it packs a few kicks as well. The only track I skip is the ballad. Booooring.

+1

I absolutely agree. Def Lep just don't possess the same magic they had in the 80's but I feel this is the most solid release they've created since "Adrenalize". It's just a really good solid rock album minus the syrupy sweet ballad.

How can you guys not like "Love?" That song is awesome! It's got a huge Queen sound and it's easily DLs most experimental ballads to date. Great tune. One of my favorites on the album, actually.
