What is so anti-metal about pearl jam? Seriously you need to go back and learn about the history of those bands if you really think they are not "closely related to metal"

It is metal regardless of its impact to Hair metal's demise, its popularity or the countless watered down shit bands that spawned from them.

It is like its cool to like AIC but gay to like PJ which is fucking stupid.
Will you please write something exactly like that on the metalcrypt? Would be fun to see everyone flip!

Bah, you can all purchase a small duck and teach it to tapdance. I review a wide selection of stunning bands each and every week, all pretty much guaranteed to be more underground than anything that's on your playlist. And then I even mention a bit of Pearl Jam (not grunge after first album...) and people react like I offered them AIDS? Ridiculous, and mindlessly conservative of y'all. When everyone's listening to Abgott, then I might take your arguments into account, but considering I review a good couple of things a week, slipping the odd bit of something different in won't hurt anyone.

Edited for r00dness.

I don't care either way. I'm just saying, Pearl Jam kind of suck and aren't terribly related to metal musically.

Zad, review what you want. I don't care if its old Madonna albums or whatever. I wasn't aware that Metal demanded conformity. Metal is the anti-conformity.

You guys that listen to only-metal need to expand your horizons. I can think of very few metal bands that don't listen to pop in some form.

Why should anyone give a shit about a Pearl Jam review? Don't read the reviews you don't care about! Any and all reviews as far as i'm concerned are a good thing. It shows the people that read this site are not moronic closed off metalheads that aren't fans of music. I just don't get this mentality. I'm a fan of music, not just metal, I'm sure some of the reviewers feel the same way. Why not review some non-metal for prosperity.

What I find frustrating, like you mentioned before, is that some non-Metal is 'ok' and some isn't. It's fine for the new Ulver to be reviewed, yet I bet if I did Scarlett Johansson's album, which has a similar sort of sound, there'd be an outcry. Sure, one's more linked to metal than the other, but in the end result what's the difference? People here are generally happy to listen to non-metal as long as it has the right image. You're all as bad as Hot Topic Kerrang-reading kids...

Exactly. To put it even simpler "review what you want as long as it doesn't offend my personal sensibilities"

Ridiculous! I can't believe how pretentious (the word of the day!) people are being about the subject.

There's no reason not to review Pearl Jam here.

Having said that I would prefer to see reviews of newer stuff. Unless PJ have a new one out I take it you mean archive reviews?

Unless you mean classic reviews, in which case I wouldn't especially want to see PJ being done. Some of their stuff is classic but it's not like they're iconic works that have changed the face of metal.

IMO metalreviews.com should welcome diversity in its day-to-day reviews but should keep it metal when picking classics.

I still think Red is enough of an influence on many metal bands to be a classic. And there are some pretty heavy riffs there for 1974.
