The old live videos of Ozzy look awesome. I pity what he's become, but in the past he was brilliant live.

Off key? Who gives a fuck, it's not like Ozzy has operatic vocals or that shit anyway.

Exactly. Ozzy back in the day had a great stage presence.
Off key? As if Henry Rollins actually sings, for that matter.
And, as if jumping all over the place and screaming / spraying your spit all the mike is "charisma".
Too much stupid shit gets spouted off around here, ya know?

The point is: Ozzy is what? 60 years old? I'd like to see the dumbasses that are bagging on Ozzy do what he has been doing for 40 years, when they are 60. My bet is they'll probably be lucky to make it to the john in time, let alone go onstage in front of thousands of people.

A classic moment in Metal, to be sure.

Sorry, drawing a blank...
What about good ol' G.G. Allin?
Or , hell, Iggy Pop?
Now Iggy Pop has charisma, as did G.G....

meh, Nomeansno looked 40-50 when they started making music and 20 years later they're still making the best music around.

Who the fuck cares about nomeansno?

They don't look so much as 40+ as much as they look like goofy dweebs that probably never got laid.

At the end of the day, nobody gives a damn about some unkown punk band dabbling in jazz, but Ozzy is still fucking Ozzy.

Meh, I'm with Noodles on this. When was the last time Ozzy went into a studio and recorded anything good? Exactly.

You're missing the point.
Though I agree he has been slipping of late, he still goes onstage and put's on a show.
And I'll be the first to admit (I already did) that he can be a bit goofy at times, but whta the hell?
His track record from 1970-1990 is enough to cement his Metal legend status.
But one can easily say Rob Halford as a frontman sucks, too: A gay biker... that's actually pretty lame. All he needs is the handlebar 'stache.
Village People reject, anyone?

it takes a lot of defending to defend someone who's been a joke for the last decade (and never really did anything more special than sing badly over great musicians before that, but like i said my opinion is kinda biased) D:

"Off key" may be the wrong phrase. Basically, he sounded awful and needs to stop singing. If I had had to pay for tickets I would've wanted a refund. I'd rather my favorite singer quit before they suck rather than continuing to suck money from their fans for awful shows. I wasn't making the claim that Wylde's moves are revolutionary; they were just a lot better than Ozzy hopping up and down squealing. I know Ozzy has influenced metal but his legacy isn't as majestic as you're making it sound. A few good albums and his time spent in Sabbath isn't deification worthy unlike Halford or Dio who both are still able to sing and perform a solid live show.

I think this is the second argument about Rollins we've had. And the Rollins beating the shit out of people wasn't the main point but I guess that is what you have chosen to emphasize. Wait to distort my argument. I really hate people that thing age equals knowledge or some type of sacred knowledge. I'm sorry you can't recognize other people's tastes. It's all people's opinions; is it worth being derogatory and belligerent?

Wow. You sure are kvlt pointing out how Metallica isn't good.

I love Ozzy. His voice is so recognizable and fits Black Sabbath's music so well. But, I will admit that he isn't a very good singer and there are tons of 70s rock singers who have just as much personality, can really sing, and haven't made fools of themselves (Robert Plant, Ian Anderson, John Wetton). I don't consider him one of the greatest singers out there.

I have a hard time respecting Ozzy because I don't like Black Sabbath or his solo stuff. He's never been a good vocalist, and has never been terribly great. Black Sabbath was decent, but Ozzy wasn't that great on the vocals.

Guys like Dio and Halford were active in the metal scene and were always doing a lot of shit and putting on great live shows as well as great records. Hell, JP is STILL putting out great albums.

I still have nightmares about his display at Sweden Rock '04. Down on his knees with his hands twitching around his head in an act of "I just kant take teh insanitiez!" with his dreadloacks flapping around everywhere.

I mean, I know the songs on Soundtrack were some sick shit but geez, get a hold of yourself Friden.

I have a deep and abiding hatred for G. G. Allin. This is entirely due to circumstances involving a former friend of mine and her psychotic boyfriend, and nothing to do with Mr. Allin himself. In fact, I used to have a leather jacket I'd painted with a portrait of him in white and "CARNIFEX ECCLESIAE JESI CHRISTI ALLIN" on the back, as the three of us had started the Church of Jesus Christ Allin. I don't think any of us were on drugs at the time.
