I posted this on the Collective/Funny/Weird/Cool Video thread a few weeks ago, but I'll post it here too. This is Testament performing another new song (The Afterlife) live about seven months ago.

Unfortunately, the sound quality in this video is really bad. But the song itself sounds awesome. :dio:

Well you know, a new song is nice and all, but after 9 fucking years, I'd like to see some actual product from these guys. Chuck's been on the upswing for a long time now.

The new album has just been posted on the band'sofficial Myspace page for streaming. I'll listen to it tomorrow (along with the new Opeth songs) and then give my thoughts.

I totally disagree. The new albums ROCKS! It's the best 2008-released metal album I've heard yet, and well worth the years I've spent looking forward to it.

It's like a sum of everything Testament has done throughout their career. There's equal amounts of The Legacy, Practice What You Preach, The Ritual, and The Gathering. Chuck uses his growl considerably less often than he did on The Gathering and Demonic (he even uses it a little less than he did on Low). And musically, this is probably the most complex and technical album Testament has ever done.

95/100!

I'm with you. The sound is very polished, and it is very well played thrash metal, but somehow it just doesn't do it for me.
