Wow what a shitstorm. Without getting into the emotional aspect of Black Flag or what they attempted to portray, what about the Rollins Band? Those were some swell albums. Not all classics (maybe Weight) but there were some great songs.

Edit: Looking back, I wasn't going to defend Black Flag and then I started listening to My War. That album is so different than a lot of other punk bands from the time (afraid to use the word revolutionary) it deserves iconic status. That album wasn't typical teenage angst; it was raw, mature, (possibly be considered) existential angst that actually showed depth unlike the other bands who were excited about anarchy and horror movies. They weren't virtuosos and didn't display any technicality but for a punk band they weren't one layered. I'd go as far as to say that album creates the same dark atmosphere which many black metal bands do but instead of just portraying pain and melancholy; it portrays a vast range of emotions from paranoia to existential depression to guilt.

I have My War, Damaged and Slip It In. Maybe they don't suck ass (I'll give them some credit) but still, they were never my fav hardcore band.

As for Black Flag, yeah they basically started the whole LA hardcore scene, but their musical acuity is not "great". Period.
And there are (or were)way better bands out there.

Honestly, I wouldn't consider Venom an amazing band just innovative because they were so damn different.

Yeah, it was a bit harsh, I'll admit, but her whole "namedropping" and "you don't know shit" tone was arrogant.

as well as earlier statements you have made, shows that you don't know a lot about Metal.
I've heard BF many, many times ( I still have a few of their albums on cassette) but I always liked the UK scene more.
If I came off as too hard, I apologize.
