I picked up some trade fodder, too. Anyone here heard Thokk and Revenge? Some of the worst shit I've ever heard in my life. Death metal/black metal nonsense. Can't believe people listen to crap like that.

I'd actually say that is your worst haul in a while.

Well I would have done without Elements 2 and Iced Earth's s/t otherwise solid choices.

I can't stand Evergrey or Iced Earth. I do like the Steel Attack and Strato I, but the rest are pretty bad IMO.

Haha! Yeah this is probably the first time I've questioned a power metal recent purchase list by you.

Slaps you across your face for not liking Evergrey and IE  :P

Me personally I like both bands and Strato that's why I liked his purchase minus the last 2 on his list.

Incidentally, how is it that one such as yourself doesn't like IE?

I can't stand Barlow's voice for starters. Also, the riffs are so chunky and unmemorable. They're way to simple and I just find them boring. However, it has been years since I've heard anything by them... maybe I'll try again. I have been into Type O Negative a lot latley, and I hear a lot of Barlow in Peter Steele sometimes. They both have a really deep pitch. Anyway, we'll see. Maybe I'll like them this time.

Interesting... part of what I like about Iced Earth is that they sound really over the top and American, for want of a better adjective. When they're wailing about crying eagles, something about it makes you want to wail too, even though you know that it's ridiculous and cheesy. I doubt it's like that for Yank listeners, but it's interesting...

Anyways, this any better, Mr NESS?

Wintersun - Wintersun
Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm
