Along with all the Metal I'm reviewing, I thought it would be interesting to throw something a little left-field in. We used to review prog rock, why not now?

I almost clicked No but then I read your comment and thought about it better and clicked Yes at the end. I think since there are rock reviews there's not reason to avoid a Muse review. My negative reflex reaction was probably due to Muse's popularity in the media, especially mtv and such. But many other metal bands have been popular there as well so I see no reason to cut off a band just because they are popular. I really see no reason to avoid rock reviews as long as it does not get in the way of the metal ones. So if Zad or some other reviewer has some spare time to waste with nothing metal to review (yeah right) then he can always throw a little different bit in.

I'll keep doing the Metal as well (I generally manage more than one review a week) but I think it would be more fun, for me as much as y'all, to keep a variety of styles being put out. I've done ambient, NeoFolk, and Rock in the past, why not give Muse, especially since they actually have riffs and that...

They're on Prog-Archives, and have been praised by Rick Wakeman and Mike Portnoy, which is closer than many bands get to being Prog! I accept they're not PURE prog, but there's much that is proggy about them.

Do it. There has been reviews which didn't fit here at all, but they were kept. Old Muse was ok.

The Who, Pink floyd, Sieben, Venetian Snares, Rabih Abou-Khalil... if they are here, why not Muse...

I feel they're as much prog as The Who ever were... Not a prog band in my book then. As for prog archives, there are a lot of band that doesn't fit the prog etiquette on their website. As if they were trying to prove that prog, more than just a revival thingy, was still alive...
Anyway, I as I said before, Muse (old and new) is a good band.

I voted yes, but it'd be fairer to review some classic Radiohead albums first ;)

There are so many classic hard rock or rock bands to be reviewed before Muse anyway... No Uriah Heep yet on MR for example.

Well, I think they'd fit in fine. We already have Coheed And Cambria reviews, why not?

Classic review of Night Sun - Mournin'

GO!

but yeah I don't see a problem with a muse review... C&C got a review... as long as there doesn't start being like 3 of those a week I think it's cool.

No, it wouldn't fit in. But when has that mattered here?

And they're not prog.

Bah, I'd prefer any metal album reviewed to any Muse one really.

Meh, I'm still of the opinion that this site needs to chill out with the non-metal reviews. But I mean, if we already have a Pink Floyd review, I don't see why Muse should be rejected.

Have you ever written a post that doesn't tell someone they're wrong or criticize the site?

Considering I have reviewed albums that weren't metal for this site, you should maybe re-read what I wrote and not inject it with negativity that isn't there.

Then you can fuck off.
