 Completely missed this! From Wiki:

Quote:
In an interview given in May 2007 to Kerrang!, Muse stated that work on a new album and new songs, some more in line with electronic or "dance music" and others more with classical or symphonic music had begun. The band is also thinking of hiring an orchestra for some of the tracks. They also revealed that the next album should be self-produced, in order to have more freedom. In an interview in a January 2008 edition of NME, Matt Bellamy stated that he is not sure of what format the new songs are going to take, stating, "it may just be albums, but it may be a stream of singles, or it may just be one 50-minute symphony, do you know what i mean? Who knows?" The new songs will be released in whatever shape or form in late 2008-early 2009.

In October 2007 interview with the Daily Star, Dominic Howard continued the idea of more electronic music, saying “We think it might have quite an electronic feel. Normally we need total time out from touring to sit down and reflect but this time round it feels different. We’re buzzing at the moment.” He also confirmed that the band will start writing and recording properly in 2008.

Fifty minute symphony please! Loved Black Holes, hopefully they'll continue along the Proggy road...

It's like they've turned into Origin or something.

Heh, that's what I was hinting at. I like HE, and the little Origin I've heard, so odds are the new album will get my attention.

Which Valkyrie? There's like five different Valkyries in the United States.

Ah, gotcha.

Also looking forward to the new Gregor Samsa. May not be metal, but it sounds damned purdy.

Since when has "not working with a producer" equal freedom? not working with a producer generally means that you don't want someone telling you when something is a bad idea. The producer works for the artist (and they would be in this case since the label is not assigning them one, they are opting out) and does not have artistic control over a project. You aren't gonna fool anyone into thinking that not hiring a producer equals freedom. Generally not working with a producer is very bad news. See "Dream Theater" and "yngwie malmsteen" who when working with an outside producer create absolute fire, but fail when they insist on doin it themselves (except falling into infinity... Kevin Shirley isn't a damn producer, never was and never will be, he's a mixing engineer.)

EP or LP? The first one was good so this could be interesting.

Apparently there's no Industrial elements this time around, so who knows, BAN might get a positive review on MR for the first time ever...

If you look at it from another angle BAN has swapped 4 genres in their 6 album career, who is that progressive?. I'm sure they'll get past their ambient/industrial phase soon anyway.

Well, from the name it seems they'll be getting back to the old sound.

The real cover art for Obzen manages, somehow, to be even stupider.
