My grandfather also doesn't move like he did in 1985. It's insane, really. I have no idea why he stopped doing cartwheels at Sunday dinner.

Absolutely not. His vocal performance is still excellent, on CD and live - granted I haven't seen Priest since 2004, but still I can't see him having got much worse since then.

Retire? Nah

Best days behind him? Yep.

Sorry guys, but his version of Painkiller on Priests last solo album was atrocious. Vocals were kinda pitiful. Drummer was good but looked bored. Guitars good as ever.

No. If (I stress this word) his vocals are starting to suffer, it probably isn't because of age, It is probably due to the way he chooses to sing and maybe a lack of consistent practice that singer need. Dio is older and has no problems at all singing. This is because He sings almost the exact same way as he had when he was in Elf and probably spends a lot of time keeping his vocals in shape. Nothing against Rob, but sometimes guys stop practicing because they believe they are at thier best. With vocals you just can't do it like that, you have to keep it up and practice daily.

Opera singers and many of the other older singers (60+ years) aren't having problems as they age at all, so it would probably be a Halford specific problem , if there is an issue to begin with.

Rob Halford is often known as the metalgod, but do you still think he is one? I think the best before date on this man has expired long ago.

Just look at some new clips with JP with Rob from last year. Rob's voice has declined and he lacks any charisma, stands still and has no eyecontact with the public. Just take a look from these two performances. In 1985 we have a young Rob that sounds great and has great selfconfidence and a lot of charisma.

I don't really even know what you'd create this poll. The guy is an icon. And one of the most beloved metal singers on earth. Who'd want him to retire? Most people would listen to anything the guy sang, even if he was 50% of his former self. (And he's not, by the way. He's still a pretty good singer.)

+1
Rob still is amazing, just like Dio. When those two icons die it'll be tragic and a great shock for Metal fans. I only hope they die of natural cause and no for some stupid traffic accident or drug overdose, or shooted by and idiot, like what happened to Dimebag

What is that tattooed on the side of his head? It looks like a giant birthmark from a distance.

I saw them live a few summer's ago when they toured for Angel Of Retribution with Queensryche. Rob Halford is rightfully a metal god.

Now he even uses that damn teleprompter when he sings well known Judas Priest classics. I am afraid Rob is seriously ill. I think it would have been better of if Rob would have taken some years off and let Tim Owens do the vocals for Judas priest.

Just take a look at Tim Owens here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-H0v-eG_5g

Great performance...way better than Rob could pull it off today. Tim also remembers all lyrics and is not addicted to teleprompter and thereby is a way better front figure than Rob

I think you need to have a little more respect for Mr. Halford. How many lyrics does Tim have to remember? This poll is nonsense. And so is your last post.

I disagree with you, people should have the balls to speak up about anybody they think is not living up to thier legcy and questioning other musicians that never had one, but often get treated like gods. No one has to believe Halford is the world's greatest singer and is beyond criticism, that is a subjective opinion.

People can speak up about anything they want. But who's not living up to their legacy? Halford's doing just fine. The teleprompter comment is just plain ridiculous and a non-factor. A weak attempt at discrediting him.

I honestly believe the teleprompter turned perhaps the greatest metal frontman of the eighties into what we have today. I don't mind him reading lyrics if he is having trouble remembering them, but I really miss the animated, charismatic guy from back in the day.

apparently, a few people disagree. I don't have an opinion because I have yet to see Rob Halford ive and couldn't have seen him in his prime.
