Shouldn't melodeath have a thread of its own? There would be plenty of people to vote for it. It looks out of place in the death thread and it would be awkard for a melodeath band to come out number one.

I agree. I think these bands have more in common with acts like sonata arctica and stratovarius than napalm death

Once again, it's not that I don't agree with both of you, but trust me when I say that if we start breaking out every voting thread into subgenres, the whole system will get very diluted and confusing. Just stick melodeath in death metal please.

Skeletonwitch under thrash?
yup

It's either black or thrash and it shares a lot more with thrash than it does black metal.

speed metal like agent steel etc, should you go for the genre that is closest related with the band, (like agent steel -> thrash and amulance->heavy metal) ?

do you consider Sodom - The Final Sign Of Evil as a new release?

Yes, you are on the right track.

Yeah, I know its a re-recording, but that doesn't change the fact that '07 is the first year it has been available. Leave it in.

In the BM thread, AlexandeR appears to have inadvertently listed A World Through Dead Eyes instead of The Haunting Presence, the latter of which is the 2007 release.

Is it acceptable in a black metal category?

Yes but not acceptable in any top 5 lists of the year

Hmm

People seem to be putting the new Anaal Nathrakh into black
metal, so I'll do that as well. What about the latest Primordial?
Avant guard? New Amorphis in deathmetal? or rock? :P

.:crast:.

Disagreed- I mean yes, they did re-record it, but its essentially a best of.

I disagree, there are 7 previously unreleased songs on it. And the other songs are rereleases from sign of evil ep.

I sent you the message. Moonspell is dark/gothic metal, and Sigh is avant-garde. They both have elements of black, but that doesn't make them black metal.

I don't think that it's really going to matter as it probably won't get enough votes to figure in the top few anyway. I just think that since '07 is the first time you could have heard this version of those songs, it works.

They've always had a very strong BM undercurrent to me.
