Saw the video of Running Free like 50 times on Much Loud ( it's on heavy rotation) and the guitar work is catchy as hell, the singers voice is hard to get used to. The first time I saw how he looked ( chubby gruffy guy) and heard that high squeaky voice of his, I bursted in laughter.

Anyhow seems like a decent band.

Really good album...I'd score it at about a 90. I have no idea what the story is about, but I still love this band...I'll have to catch up on that sometime :lol:.

But anyways, Co&Ca actually haven't released Part 1 yet, which is what they are doing next. Just thought I would correct that.

And I didn't know this was the last part in the story :(

One of the only good prog albums released this year.

Should check this out. Oh and to make a pedantic point: the story arc isn't over yet. Now that they've come to the end, they're doing part 1 (The Second Stage Turbine Blade was part2)

When I first heard of this band, I spent ages looking for part one so I could follow it from the beginning. :lame:

Yeah, mid-90s for me. Probably my favourite release of the year.

I'm surprised you praised Feathers so much--I thought it was one of the worst songs on the album, though still good, as any song would have to be on an album I rate so highly

Personally, my favourites were No World For Tomorrow and Gravemakers and Gunslingers.

+1. My two favorites as well.

But I still like Feathers :wub:

The only thing that kind of disappoints me about this album is that the last song isn't quite the epic conclusion I would hope for...besides the throwback to Good Apollo 1, it doesn't really stand out. But, the rest of The End Complete rules so I ain't complaining too much.

Really? I like the last 2 mins of the album the most.

Here's an interesting thought: Since the next album is going to be the beginning of the story, do you think Coheed will try to put more elements of Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets in there? Since this is the beginning of the story will the band try to match it musically?

Yeah, I dunno...we'll see. Part of me thinks that they'll try to do something grandiose since it'll probably be the last Coheed and Cambria album.

On a side note, here is an awesome video of their performance of IKSOSE (song), one of their best songs IMO. Claudio Sanchez is really good live...he doesn't have any problem emulating the sound he gets on the albums.

I purchased this part three thing after reading all your positive comments, and... I'd like a refund. This album is:
a) Not prog;
b) Not good;
c) Not too skimpy on the -core influences.

There are some good instrumental parts, but the voice is:
a) Backstreet Boyish;
b) Way too loud in the mix.

Also, some of the lyrics and themes are incredibly stupid. "Man your battle stations". Phah. This leads me to believe that:
a) This is a sorry excuse for a concept album;
b) You fell for it.

What is it with you guys and your ability to ignore blatantly contrived music with excruciating vocals? I could bear Woods of Ypres and Agalloch, but this is just... shit.

Bah, if you don't find yourself humming it a few days after, you're a cold-hearted fellow indeed. Did you not Try before you Bought, anyways?

Yeah, no shit. This is CLEARLY not your type of music. Why not sample a few songs before you "waste" your money.

People get criticized for downloading music and now it's "why didn't you download it before buying it?".
