Anyone planning on making the trip next year?

http://www.progpowerusa.com

Some bands confirmed so far:

Jon Oliva's Pain
Iron Saviour
Volbeat
Riverside
Astral Doors
Elevnking
Andromeda
Spheric Universe Experience
Serenity
Pathosray

The main event is September 26th and 27th, with a showcase even on the 25th (usually at a smaller, more intimate venue). It's gonna be killer!

Wow! I checked out this Volbeat band. They're like Elvis meets the Misfits meets...I don't know...Load-era Metallica:

Pool Of Booze
The Garden's Tale (nice black tooth, dude!)
Sad Man's Tongue

This is absolutely killer stuff! Never quite heard this combination of styles before. They even have a song called "Mr. & Mrs. Ness."

It's actually not that bad. I'd watch them live, and what the hell at that song title.

Iron Savior, Elvenking and Astral Doors aren't progressive power metal. What the fuck.

Nor is John Oliva's Pain. Every year they have a few bands outside the prog genre. It's just a way to make the "festival" a success since prog fans aren't that abundant.

Volbeat are pretty cool. I'd go for them, Oliva and Astral Doors. Too bad I can't :D

Read an editorial about this years festival, and it sounded like a disaster, sound and managment-wise. Did any of you guys attend?

I love these songs. There's like five videos on YouTube and I've been rotating them since yesterday. Crazy good!

But Misfits are sort of 50s rock anyway?

Yeah, I guess it's there, but it's not blatant.

There were a few sound problems here and there. Honestly my biggest complaint was the temperature at times, but it was explained after the fact that some singers need it to be a certain temp or else their voice locks up.

Sound problems off the top of my head:

Beginning of Sonata's set
First song of the allstar jam (final count down cover) Floors mic wasnt on at all and they played through the whole song. They replayed it after they realized that the mic wasnt working.

Edit: for a festival that size I actually think it went fairly well. I just wish they would have had the smokers actually have to exit the building to smoke.
