The compositions are similar to old Blue Cheer... Same basic hard rock with simple yet efficient riffing. As for the
lead guitars, I see what you mean but they're still a zillion time less skilled than Eddie's... Other than that, two other things are severely lacking to back up your comparison : Van Halen's sense of fun (which gain them the label "big rock") and their natural groove. That hardly makes
Beast is Back a clone to anything VH's ever done. End of discussion, class dismissed !

Lighten up man. It's all good. No one said clone. Reminisent. I hardly need any education on music. I listen to the most diverse selection of music you can imagine. Whether it be Peter Cetera, Mushroomhead, Dope, Edguy, Big Country (not country, GUP era Rush, more like), Rush, Dream Theater, Human League, Depeche Mode, you name it, as long as it isn't country music or fucking hip-hop and its got strong song writing, I'll like it. This has gotten rather ridiculous on my end for a few posts, so I'll apologize and leave it at that. We all have differences of opinion, that doesn't mean someone's views are invalidated for the rest of time because of one arguably bad comparision and a mixed opinion of an album, does it?
No need to lighten up, I wasn't angry or anything... And you don't have to prove anything about your musical knowledge and certainly don't have to display how broad your taste is, that doesn't impress anyone. I was just stating your idiocy on the matter of Blue Cheer resembling Van Halen. All you need to realize that it isn't true is a pair of ears and a functioning brain. You then realize a (very) few guitar licks are hardly sufficient to nourish your (oh! so ridiculous) comparison. That said, no hard feelings, it's
music after all.
