The album is called "Ire Works" and is being produced by Steve Evetts for a fall release. Recording members of The Dillinger Escape Plan are now:
Ben Weinman
Liam Wilson
Greg Puciato
Gil Sharone (of Stolen Babies)

there's a cool drum solo halfway through.

I think Brian Benoit fucked up his hand and Chris Pennie left to play in Coheed and Cambria.

Yeah, even though I think DEP is probably a better place for him to display his talent it'll be cool to hear C&C with him. They have a new album coming this year I think too.

got around to listening to it

first impression: their pop side ("Black Bubblegum", "Milk Lizard") and their experimental side ("Sick on Sunday", "When Acting As A Wave/Particle") are both progressing away from their aggressive side (which is as good as ever)

the pop songs are good but really interrupt the flow of the album

their new drummer is pimp

I've heard Ben writes most of the stuff for the band now.

i'm liking this a lot. it doesn't progress super far from Miss Machine but it also doesn't feel like they're repeating themselves (except maybe the first two songs)

Are the vocals any different? I never liked the new vocalist that much. Any more of the NIN-sounding electro stuff?

the vocals are along the same lines, although his clean vocals are a little different. theres one very NIN sounding song... and a couple of parts with aphex twin-ish electronica. their aggro stuff is basically the same as its always been, but their poppier/experimental stuff is pretty different from Miss Machine's this time around

This is something Dillinger has been very cautious of from day one. Somewhere down the line, metal went from being raw and unhinged to calculated, processed, and machine like. The less human a record sounds these days, the more it is praised for having “great production value.” While in the 90’s a lot of innovative bands like Fear Factory, Pantera, and Meshuggah were breaking new stylistic boundaries by adding a more industrial and mechanical element to their brand of metal, these days the most interesting elements of those bands are being bastardized left and right. I can’t even count the number of in studio stories I have heard of lately about bands tracking all their guitars to a click track before a drummer even lays down one take. How can that possibly have human energy?
