Wow! :dio:

Quote:
On November 16, EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet will release two six-track albums — "Lost in Space Part 1" and "Lost in Space Part 2" — from his AVANTASIA project. Apart from the identical title track, both releases will feature completely different, exclusive songs plus videos, a poster, studio reports, a "making-of," a slideshow, and loads of enhanced bonus material, each for the price of a CD single.

The track listing for the two EPs is as follows:

"Lost in Space Part 1":

01. Lost In Space
02. Lay All Your Love On Me
03. Another Angel Down (feat. Jorn Lande)
04. The Story Ain't Over (feat. Bob Catley & Amanda Somerville)
05. Return To Avantasia
06. Ride The Sky (feat. Eric Singer on vocals)
07. Lost In Space (video clip)
08. Lost In Space (making of the video clip)
09. Photo Gallery + Poster

"Lost in Space Part 2":

01. Lost In Space
02. Promised Land (feat. Jorn Lande and Michael Kiske)
03. Dancing With Tears In My Eyes
04. Scary Eyes
05. In My Defense
06. Lost In Space (alive at Gate studio, feat. Amanda Somerville)
07. The Road To Avantasia (studio report with interview)
08. Slideshow

According to Tobias, the material on the two EPs is top notch and could have easily made it to the album as well. But because there is so much material they have decided to put out those two releases instead of a regular single or EP.

Cool EPs. Eric Singer singing Ride the Sky ?
And a Kiske/Lande duet is just awesome.

The "Lost in Space" track is out on the internet now. I don't care for it, it reminds me of "Superheroes" which is fine for Edguy but I'm wanting Avantasia to be epic power metal. I hope it isn't representative of the album.

Amanda Somerville is the chick from the Aina album, right? Hot as hell, killer voice.

I also wouldn't be shocked if this new album is different. Tobias is older now and the way things come out is just different when you get older. If he keeps it honest, it should be good, no matter the style. I haven't heard the new track, though.

On Saturday, September 8th BW&BK scribe Carl Begai attended a listening session for EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's forthcoming AVANTASIA album, The Scarecrow. On offer were 11 rough mixes featuring the official Avantasia line-up of Sammet (vocals), Sascha Paeth (rhythm and lead guitars), Eric Singer (KISS/drums) and Miro Rodenberg (keyboards and orchestration), Henjo Richter (GAMMA RAY/additional lead guitars), and several guest performers. According to Carl's report, the title track of the album "features Jorn Lande's best vocal performance ever" - a claim seconded by Paeth, who produced and is mixing the album - and "the heaviest song Alice Cooper has ever done." An in-depth report from the session will be available soon.

Artists appearing on the new Avantasia album include Roy Khan (KAMELOT/vocals), Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY/guitars), Oliver Hartmann, Jorn Lande (ex-MASTERPLAN/vocals), Bob Catley (MAGNUM/vocals), Michael Kiske (ex-HELLOWEEN/vocals), Rudolph Schenker (SCORPIONS/guitars), Alice Cooper (vocals) and Amanda Somerville (vocals).

The Scarecrow tracklist is as follows:

1) 'Twisted Mind' - Tobias Sammet, Roy Khan (vocals), Sascha Paeth (lead guitar)

2) 'The Scarecrow' - Tobias Sammet, Jorn Lande (vocals), Sascha Paeth (lead guitars)

3) 'Shelter From The Rain' - Michael Kiske, Bob Catley, Tobias Sammet (vocals), Henjo Richter, Kai Hansen (lead guitars)

4) 'Carry Me Over' - Tobias Sammet (vocals), Sascha Paeth (lead guitar)

5) 'What Kind Of Love' - Amanda Somerville, Michael Kiske, Tobias Sammet (vocals)

6) 'Another Angel Down' - Jorn Lande, Tobias Sammet (vocals), Sascha Paeth, Henjo Richter (lead guitars)

7) 'The Toy Master' - Alice Cooper, Tobias Sammet (vocals), Sascha Paeth, Henjo Richter (lead guitars)

8) 'Devil In The Belfry' - Jorn Lande, Tobias Sammet (vocals), Henjo Richter (lead guitars)

9) 'Cry Just A Little' - Tobias Sammet, Bob Catley (vocals), Sascha Paeth (lead guitars)

10) 'I Don't Believe In Your Love' - Oliver Hartmann, Tobias Sammet (vocals), Rudolph Schenker (lead guitar)

11) 'Lost In Space' - Tobias Sammet (vocals)

Fans should note that the Lost In Space EPs (Part 1 and Part 2), due to be released on November 16th, will feature non-album material including cover versions of ABBA's 'Lay All Your Love On Me' and the UNTRAVOX hit 'Dancing With Tears In My Eyes'.

The Scarecrow is due to be released in January 2008.

Found a link to the song. First off, it's a great song. Secondly, people are going to hear this and be disappointed that's it "not Avantasia." Well, Avantasia don't have all fast songs on the other two albums. This definitely has a Rocket Ride feel.

Two things we need to remember:

1. This is a single, meant to attract listeners, so they choose the most radio-friendly of the lot.

2. It's the final song on the album. Many albums end on a soft note.

Either way, it's a solid song, but it's definitely going to draw some detractors that'll immediately declare that Tobias has lost it, and they simply talk shit from there on out. So expect it.

The song is nothing special. It is too much on the light side to be enjoyable. But as Afro said this is a single so it's supposed to be like that. And since it's the last song from the album it could be easily skipped.

Well I don't want any Avantasia tracks to have a Rocket Ride feel (my least favourite Edguy album) if other tracks are this good  I'll stick with the first two albums :dio: .

I'm not sure what the big deal is. Let's be honest here, Avantasia has a lot of songs that have that rock vibe that Rocket Ride has: Breaking Away, Avantasia, Sign Of The Cross, and The Looking Glass. And they have plenty of really mellow songs, largely piano pieces: Farewell, Inside, In Quest For, Anywhere, and Into The Unknown.

I'm not sure why people view the Avantasia as these epic power metal albums, when they're simply not solely that at all. There sure are some epic power metal songs on them, but not all of them.

Can't people stop talking trash about him? Once that happens, he'll likely have a better view of turdly metal fans (which is his main complaint).

Hey, I was just making a point. I used to talk shit, too. I gave his last solo album on this site a rating of 1 Turd (one of my most creative moments here). I've just since read an interview where he said he doesn't hate metal or rock music, it's just not the style he wants to play on his solo material. He then went on to say that the fans of his work with metal bands trash his solo stuff so much that sometimes he lashes out. This is understandable, of course. The problem is that labels interested in him know he has a lot of metal fans, but don't understand they're not fans of his solo material, so they promote it to the wrong crowd.

So now I've changed my tune, and I've gained further respect for Kiske.

I really don't care what Kiske says he's still my all time favourite vocalist followed by Daniel Heiman.
