Is that supposed to be a sarcastic joke that i did not get? It would almost be equal correct to say this is Chamleon 2, since it's really that different. The dark ride is very dark and serious, when this one is very happy and hopeful (somebody that would only heard final fortune and dreambound could think these are very religous guys that preach about god and stuff). TDR is very bassguitar driven while this album has unfortunately hardly no bass at all. The only thing that I find common with TDR is that they both kick ass as most Helloween releases.

While there are some happier songs on here (as there are on The Dark Ride- All Over the Naaaaaations), I find the mood on Gambling to be mainly darker- like The Dark Ride.

I disagree with you somewhat about All Over The Nations really being a "happier song." Lyrically, the song was (at least to me) about the band having a good time playing live in front of their fans. But notice that, musically, the song has a decidedly more serious and less "happy" sound than other fast-paced Helloween tracks. Even the lyrics, despite the happy/fun theme, are a bit deeper and more serious in nature than the lyrics in similar songs like Falling Higher. Basically, it has a more musically-controlled and serious sound than other "fast Helloween tracks."

Helloween doesn't call themselves a Christian band, so people have been ignoring the songs about Christianity, acting like they're something else. Helloween have been doing it since day one.

This suggests one of three things:

A. A lot of metal fans don't really pay attention to song lyrics.
B. A lot of metal fans don't know much about Christianity.
C. For many, it's okay for band to play a few Christian songs, but not okay for them to declare themselves a "Christian band."

Oh you crazy metalheads and your super anti-Christianity. It seems power metal fans, however, are more accepting of it in general- I can't remember a backlash at Night of the Opera, for example, even though it had 3-4 songs about the Jesus man. Can't remember if Grave Digger's The Last Supper got attacked by the metal community for its subject matter.

Hansi Kursch is actually a devout Christian, so the biblical songs on A Night At The Opera shouldn't have been too surprising.

Savotage is another power metal band with several Christian songs.

Christian themes don't bother me that much, BG, Helloween and Savatage are still brilliant. As long as they don't get preachy... I'd obviously rather they didn't use christian themes, but hey, the music's awesome.

I don't see what's so wrong with it- why is it okay for Virgin Steele to write albums about Greek Mythology and Amon Amarth about the Norse, but not okay for a band to write a song about a Christian story? The Jesus story is actually quite a beautiful one by itself; I really enjoy the lyrics to songs like Precious Jerusalem and Crucified by Grave Digger.

I think a lot of it is that many metal fans have a sort of hang-up about Christianity because:

a) Metal is supposed to be anti-establishment.
b) It's mostly Christians that protest metal music.

I'm not saying this applies to everybody, but there are quite a few metal fans like this.

Agreed that, even if you don't believe in God or Jesus, the story of Jesus Christ is actually very positive and emotional.

Shucks, Why doesn't this album get more credit? Hell Was Made In Heaven, Listen To The Flies, Nothing To Say, and Don't Stop Being Crazy are some of Helloween's best songs ever. I even played Don't Stop Being Crazy for my (ex)girlfriend once, and she loved it.

For the simple fact that Rabbit don't come easy wasn't anything really groundbreaking in the helloween discography. Even this new album is way better than Rabbit and it succeedor The Dark Ride and proceedor were are asskicking albums that were even better albums than Rabit. If the album would have been released between Pink Bubble goes Apes and Chamleon it would certainly have gotten much more attention

Someone translate this please I don't speak intraweb :D

And between Pink Bubbles and Chameleon lol I wouldn't think they would release something like Chameleon if they had this between that and PBGA now if they released this after Chameleon instead of Master Of The Rings then yeah it probably would have garnished some attention.

I listened to this album just now, and it's great. Much like The Dark Ride, it's considerably more abrasive than other Helloween records... but in a different way. The Dark Ride was moody and depressing. While Gambling With The Devil is heavy and fast. I also like the lyrics, all about life choices and the struggle between doing what's right and doing what's wrong.

Certainly one of the best metal albums of 2007.

The bonus tracks are killer, too. Can't figure out the riddle, though. I'm pretty sure I understand it, but the answer eludes me.

After listening to this IMO this is the best Hellloween album to date in fact I will say it's right up there with the first 2 Keeper albums as the best Helloween has put out and the best Deris era Helloween album.

I love how they started out with a killer track Kill It and it continued to be good from there.

I know some say Dark Ride or even Keeper Legacy was the best the band has put out since Keeper 1 and 2 but my opinion this beats both DR and Legacy.

Personally, I hate it when bands start out with a killer track and continue to be good from there.

The rest of Painkiller songs are so much more than "just good".

Speaking of Kill It, I for one think it's their best song since Keeper of the Seven Keys. I wish they had a couple more like it on this album.
